Put JJF first and put SFTD in place of SOTE and kick SOTE in to the world of bootlegs.

Heck no Phil ..... Sympathy is a natural born opener ...
It'd lose have its impact stuck on the tail end of Beggars ....

grinning smiley

It gives it a strong opener and closer instead of the strong opener and a weak, musically uninteresting ending via SOTE.

The lyrics are crap, the arrangement is too. Keith's slide is bad.

Nothing distinctive about it.

Why Factory Girl? A classic!

Re: Beggarsbanquet edition with JJFlash on it ?

"Beggars Banquet" wouldn't be BB w/o "Doctor" and "Factory Girl". What gives the album much of its identity are the acoustic songs; Country via the UK.

Yes and no.

Early acoustic versions are from 1967, OK.

I may be wrong, but the officially released version (electric) is from new recordings done in early 1968.

The few acoustic takes available are also from spring 1968. Keith is tuned to open D and Jimmy Miller is heard at the end of one of them.

Ok, anywhere after Beggars Banquet. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

By moving all the BB tracks around, all that would happen is that Beggars Banquet would then exist somewhere else in time.
One can not say "They should have put this and this song on Banquet; and taken these off". I mean, you can say it, but all that does is create another Stones album in that year.

I think "Salt of the Earth" is a decent track. it's a learning experience IMO though. Mick and Keith dipping their foot in the big-time production waters. Still early in the game.

After listening to what you've pointed out with isolated tracks, His Majesty, it's quite clear that JJF indeed has electric guitars on it and only one acoustic was through the tape recorder for SFM.

Story goes that during mastering of JJF single, someone leaned against the moving tape reel - this took place during the bridge section where they repeat the intro - easy to spot when you're listening for it. Weird - but it became a key part of the experience
