My 3rd Favorite overall behind SF and EOMS: Here's my long indepth review of GHS: Goats Head Soup – 1973 (US #1; UK#1) Dancing With Mr. D • 100 Years Ago • Coming Down Again • Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) • Angie • Silver Train • Hide Your Love • Winter • Can You Hear The Music • Star Star (@#$%&) Stones Fan – ***** Casual Listener - **** Goats Head Soup is in many

Very sad news. I'm a big Nektar fan. A truly good band. Got to meet Roye on two occasions and he was very nice and humble. Seemed truly grateful to speak with his fans and he signed some of my memorabilia graciously. Remember The Future is their definite pinnacle and a lost classic. It's pretty much one long 45 minute song, but it is broken down into sub-songs. It goes very quic

I've always really liked Anybody Seen My Baby - such a nice groove and melody and was disappointed it wasn't a bigger hit. Even the little rap break works for me. Although the song never really takes off live. On the other hand, Out of Control to me is a modern day Midnight Rambler - an epic that is far superior live than in its studio version.

Just incredible - I don't know how he does it. 4 Hours of non stop energy and changing it up show after show. Absolutely amazing. I imagine every other major band must shake their head in disbelief and say "how can he do that at his age". And his band changing the shows night after night, to play so tight and powerfully on the fly....wow

When it was done, Woody shakes his head a bit and certainly looks pretty disgusted to me. Anyway, I love the Stones more than any other band and have seen every tour since 1975, and I can't believe anybody would defend their SNL performance. Honestly, it was horrible and at least to me (and some others on this board) an embarrassment. But if you weren't embarrassed, at least admit it

What Bashlets said was true back in 1978. The SNL performance was simply awful and Jagger came off as an embarrassment. It was especially painful for a big Stones fan because Some Girls was so exceptional and Miss You was the song of the summer to a large extent. But the 1978 tour was very strange and not just because they skipped NYC (forget Capital and Palladium surprise shows). The famous

I was a die hard Stones fan by 15, thanks to an older sister, I had seen the Stones live twice by then and already owned most of their albums by that time. I knew their music inside and out by the age of 15. By the way, I never let up and have seen every tour (except 1978) where they didn't really play NYC (they played Philly and two surprise club shows that I couldn't get tickets for

In 1978 I was a 15 year old die hard Stones fan. My favorite band then as now. I told my friends about that upcoming SNL performance and we gathered around to watch the Show (live at the time). To me it was my low point with the Stones - it was an embarrassment. Mick's voice was shot (now in retrospect, we've all heard about the hard partying that week for cast and band and it'

I think Mick is a genius, a totally underrated business man who's done an incredible job of running The Rolling Stones (and thereby making a generally unappreciated to Mick Jagger, Keith Richards countless millions). I think Mick is also highly underrated and underappreciated in his genius songwriting. But the annoying thing is Mick doesn't help with this with his aloofness. His scht

Always really liked Highwire - kind of a lost forgotten song. Thought Almost Hear You Sigh and Out Of Tears and Blinded By Rainbows were largely forgotten classic ballads as well.

Great work. A bit of "loaded statistics" in the sense that it gives the impression that the Stones live set is incredibly varied. But a closer look shows 16 warhorses. With their set being roughly 18 songs, and you get the true picture that you spend hundreds of dollars on a show and see potentially 2 songs that are not warhorses (and possibly not even "rare"). Fine for th

I loved the Steel Wheels tour, but Flashpoint to me was the most sterile boring Stones live album and I virtually never listen to it except for Highwire which I love and Sex Drive which I don't love. Yet the bootleg "LostPoint" i've listened to continually all these years. Comprised of the B-sides "Just Want To Make Love to You", Play With Fire, 2000 Light Years, H

I saw three of the Shea stadium shows and they were incredible. When Jagger appeared at the top of the stage to do Sympathy for The Devil, it was truly a mind blower. Just amazing. And to hear the Stones as a band sounding so tight as compared to '75, '78 and the '81 tours (no doubt influenced by Jagger's solo tour of Japan/Australia) was a real treat. The Stones simply so

My favorite Ron Wood solo album by far. I love the raw live sound of the album and pound for pound has the best songs overall, than any other Wood solo album, although his first album is a close second.

Great Topic: 1. Goats Head Soup - Classic album - great listen and should be a part of the big four - making 5 classics in a row. 2. Its Only Rock n Roll - Very underrated album - includes Time Waits For No One - one of the greatest lost classics by any band that should be a regular on classic radio. 3. Undercover - a great album for "Stones" fans. Not always an easy listen, b

Mick's Wandering Spirit show at Webster Hall (available on bootleg DVD) is a smoking hot show - absolutely awesome. And I personally also really like both Jaggers bootleg DVD's of the Tokyo show and the Australian show (Deep Down Under). Those two are a little dated as is 90 percent of 80's music but they're great shows and obviously influenced the Stones to their current so

I wish Mick would do a solo show like that - because Mick has never toured for any of his solo albums (not included the Japanese/Australian Primitive Cool shows) and the one off promo shows for Wandering Spirit and Goddess, his solo material has made little impact. In fact there is a ton of great music lost out there. The flipside of course if he did tour and promote his solo stuff and it had t

I saw two of the Shea Stadium shows - they were incredible. Unique in their time - I'd never seen staging like that before. In fact I lived in Queens at that time and you could actually see parts of the stage (above Shea Stadium) as you drove by, that's how huge that staging was. When Jagger appeared at the top of the stage (higher than the top of Shea Stadium) to sing Sympathy For T

I first got into Bowie in 1974 because my sister had Diamond Dogs which caught my eye because it had an amazing gatefold album cover. I was blown away by it. The opening "Future Legend / Diamond Dogs" is still a mind blower - truly scary and unforgettable. I immediately bought David Live - a double live album the critics hated because he had changed his look and rearranged the arran

when reviewing any album I always think of it in two ways - if you're a big fan of the band versus if you're not a fan of the band. For instance lets say Beggars Banquet. I think Beggars Banquet is a classic great album IF you're a big Stones fan. It's actually a very uncommercial album (actually wasn't even a big seller peaked at like #5 or something). If I was to in

I love the Stones version of Like A Rolling Stones - think its awesome and always love when they play it live. Crowd always seems to love it as well. To me a highlight of the show and best part of Stripped along with Little Baby. Unfortunately Woodie's lead on Shine A Light really made me miss Mick Taylor....

I'm not a huge Eagles fan or Don Henley, but Cass County is an excellent album. Great songs and really well crafted. Nice to see that Keith's album has sold almost as many copies as the Eagles sell tons here in the US

I really liked Primitive Cool when it came out and though the 80's production has dated it, it still has some greatness to it. The album was killed by it's cover and Let's Work which really is the worst thing ever released by any Rolling Stone - and it was the initial single - literally killing the album. But Party Doll is great. I love Throwaway, Say You will (also think shou

Pound for pound, song for song - Let It Bleed probably is the best Stones album - the song listing is incredible.....but I personally don't listen to it as much as SF, EOMS, GHS, GYYO, SG....because. Country Honk is "cute" but a poor subsitute for Honky Tonk Women, Midnight Rambler is FAR superior live on GYYO, as is Live With Me. In fact Midnight Rambler is downright poor compar

Thanks for clarifying my quote - Yes I give CH a 3 out of fine which to me is Good. Not Excellent. Five stars to me is CLassic and very few albums ever get a five. Nothing wrong with a 3 star review in my opinion. Again, to me solid criticism is a good thing.
