Personally, I love Sandinista, the first 4 sides are great and there are "some" good things on sides 5 & 6 too. They basically released all their potential b-sides on sides 5 & 6 and released them for free as the triple album was priced as a single album in the UK when it came out. So, having a triple album may not have sounded great as a cohesive piece of work, but it sure wa

A couple of interesting facts in that article posted by georgelicks: "Exile On Main St. first entered The Billboard 200 at #10 on June 10, 1972. It was the only album to debut in the top 10 that year. The album shot to #1 in its second week." --Did not know that! and: "Exile is only the second catalog studio album to rank among the two best-selling albums in the U.S

Sticky Fingers 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition about a year from now would be perfect! They could easily put a few outtakes on the bonus disk plus a lot of high quality live performances from 1970/1971 if any exist. Is there any possibility that Leeds was also recorded in stereo? Or probably just mono? This would be similar to the extra stuff on The Who - Who's Next Deluxe Edition, reh

I borderline like it, but it's no Memory Motel. What always perplexes me about this song is that I have absolutely no memory of ever hearing it on Top-40 radio at the time (and it was a top 10 single in the US). Yes, I was only 12 but I listened to AM radio all the time and caught American Top 40 every week. I remember hundreds of other songs from this time period (and most of them su

Here's a slightly longer version of the first Lorne Michaels offer with a few people commenting on it, including Lorne (present day): And here's a transcript (even funnier) of his second offer a month later (NBC has sweetened the pot by $200.00): Finally, a bit more info from Neil Innes' website:

And then Lorne Michaels offered them $3000.00 (as a joke) to appear on Saturday Night Live because that's all NBC could afford. And they almost did it. That would have been much cooler. George then did SNL a little later and (as a joke, again) demanded the entire $3000.00 when Lorne only gave him 25%. Great stuff!

QuoteT&A Quotesf37 I always thought it would be kind of cool for the band to hold the same pose on their potentially last album as they did on their very first album. And no words on the cover: just the same sideways glance standing in front of a dark background, but nearly 50 years later (except that Bill wouldn't be on the new cover, and Ron replaces Brian, of course). The first and la

Quotelittle queenie i love the arco (echo) arena - saw a bunch of stones shows there in 99... hey rochdale, i don't suppose you lived in rochdale village in berkeley, did you? Naaaa, after a place in England. I liked Arco Arena, they had the stage in an open area on the side of the arena not at the end, much better viewing for the people in the seats.

One of the very few bands I like a lot and have seen in concert from the last 2 decades (and I'm 46). Great show at Arco Arena in Sacramento on the American Idiot tour. Only downside was Billy Joe would yell "Sacramento!" about once a song....for the whole show

That list is rather embarrassing. A frontman doesn't play guitar most of the show, so that eliminates McCartney, Lennon, Springsteen, even Joe Strummer (and I am a big fan of all 4). A frontman is the focal point, you are watching his every move, what is he going to do next, he has the crowd in the palm of his hand. I love Oasis but Liam just stands there and sneers through most of the sh

I love Keith's voice on stuff like Happy, BTMMR and Little T&A. The recorded versions, that is. When he was able to sing in a higher register back then it was great. Most stuff since? Not so good, especially when he talk/sings or sounds like someone who is trying to sing even though they've lost their voice. It can be painful at times when he only sings 80% of a line.

I always lumped this song together with Memo from Turner (which I like ALOT), mostly in how he sings it. Perhaps Mick should have put out a solo EP. It's not even close to the greatness that is Jigsaw Puzzle.

Quotesweetcharmedlife Quotechelskeith I'm in 28,257 place out of 4.7m in my ESPN bracket- I picked St Marys to win it all- I've got 11 of 16 in the tourney still, but probably have little chance of winning the 10K - but I am ahead of 99.4% of the rest, so I'm braggin bout that at the office. Go St Marys! That it is pretty good. I'm in 110402 place. That's the best out

I remember seeing L&G in a theater (The Crest in North Seattle) in the early 80's and there was a good 10 minutes of just pre-show crowd noise on the speakers before the movie even started playing on the screen. I think they even had a curtain and it hadn't opened yet either. Not knowing how long it was going to last, it got a little boring but I got what they were trying to do. M

Hallelujah has already been overdone on the show. Any time one of the contestants does a song that has already been done to death on the show, I just groan. Original song choices are a better sign that someone is going to go a long way. I'm sure we'll be hearing Satisfaction, Wild Horses, Angie etc. tonight, what I'm looking forward to is someone actually picking one of the more

Quotekeefriffhard4life Quotesweetcharmedlife Wow all the haters came out on this one. PJ is a very good band. Did a good job opening for the Stones before. They've done stones covers very nicely before and Ronnie played with them last year. What, is everbody bored with the Exile news already. Save the hate for someone worthy. Like Dave Matthews or John Mayer....Or the price of the new Exile.

He was directly in front of us in line at the Reno airport about 3-4 years ago to get onboard a Southwest flight (he probably had a place up at Lake Tahoe). You wouldn't have known it was him until he spoke, that VOICE was just amazing to hear in person.

Quotetatters QuoteRochdale3 Looks like you can buy JUST the vinyl as well for only $30.99, same release date as the other editions....so that's $100+ just for the 30 minute DVD and the book Does the vinyl include a third disc with all the bonus tracks, or is it just the original double LP? The bonus tracks aren't available on vinyl anywhere......so far.
