When the AD/DC album came out you saw it everywhere at any given Walmart, plus tshirts etc. So tons of people bought it because they saw it right in front of their face, most probably had no idea there was a new AC/DC album out or would go looking for it in a record store (which barely exist anymore). I'd prefer they did it at Target like Pearl Jam did.

I always find these guitar playing "discussions" fascinating as I know absolutely nothing about what they are talking about except for some very general concepts about playing guitar. Most everyone comes across as an expert and all of you probably are especially when dealing with such intricate details. While many are just speculating about how exactly something was originally played,

Please don't try and be bigger than the U2 360 stage, that thing is MASSIVE and U2 won't even profit until this year's leg of that tour. Financially it would make no sense and we know that's very important to the Stones. What they should do is play mostly arenas/theaters with the occasional "HUGE GIG" like Rio. Play Central Park etc, every couple of months or

While I'm sure both Mick and Keith have had to compromise over the years (probably going back to at least 1966) both music-wise and when/how much to tour, I've always been curious about a couple of periods: 1) They had always toured the US and then Europe the following year. Then in 1977/1978 they are extremely prolific in the studio, they tour the US in 1978 but then no European to

Quotecc QuoteRochdale3 QuoteBarn Owl Along with You Can't Catch Me, this is the other clear stand-out track from the Rolling Stones No.2 album, with a great lead vocal, a magnificent rythm section and some nifty piano work. The guitars aren't too bad, either. ...soon they would have to stop relying upon Chuck Berry for their best songs. I agree, one of Mick's best early vocals

Someone must post a Youtube video of the real Tom Snyder from the same time. Aykroyd nailed it. I did love watching the Tomorrow Show when he had good musical guests

A brilliant cover, sounds very similar to all the other Devo songs from their first album, very quirky.

QuoteRochdale3 I'll admit that TCU has looked better all year (barely) so it should be a very good game. More importantly it will set up next year (Boise State only loses 4 of 22 starters and TCU 6?, that's amazing!). Both should be ranked very high and may actually have a chance at the national championship game if they can win all their games. I think both teams could beat Texas th

QuoteNorthShoreBlues2 I have everything stored on a harddrive (and backup), so nothing is physical. All official releases I simply save as the album title. As for bootlegs I always save like this: 1989.12.19 Convention Center, Atlantic City, NJ the year, month, day, Venue, city and state, and country name if applicable. That way they go in chronologically. I have about 150 Stones; but my Pe

From Wikipedia: "After the release of Hot Rocks 1964–1971 in 1971, an album entitled Necrophilia was compiled for release as the follow-up, with the aid of Andrew Loog Oldham, featuring many previously unreleased (or, more accurately, discarded) outtakes from the Rolling Stones' Decca/London period. While that project failed to materialize—with More Hot Rocks (Big Hits & Fazed Co

Here's a quick take. Most accents (Southern, English) tend to make one syllable words into almost 2 syllables..... For instance, the word "rain" isn't said on one steady level, it may go up or down halfway through the word depending on the accent. But when words are sung they usually have to stay on one level because each syllable is just one note which has to stay on that

Quoteskipstone Although not where I live but elsewhere in the world it's already 2010 so on that note, I'll be in my town, Mandeville, Louisiana, with friends, possibly watching the fireworks over the Mississippi River in New Orleans from across Lake Pontchartrain on the lake shore looking southeast!!! Sounds like a scene from a great James Lee Burke novel....just needs some Jax beer

2010 - the movie, definitely had it's moments. I'm sure it looks quite dated now but I enjoyed it.

Plenty of good empty seats in the upper deck at the Big A, unless it was typical LA folks leaving early to beat the traffic.

QuoteLieB Yes, there was an obvious punk-influenced move in '78, where short, straight to the point songs got picked over the self-indulgent jamming. I don't agree with canadian.sway here -- at least in '78 they didn't abandon the blues, to the contrary, they reinstated Love In Vain in the set, and they played a lot of rootsy stuff like All Down the Line, some country and soul

It's all in the timing and the performance. I don't know if this was all one take or if there were any major overdubs, but I suspect that other takes never quite worked either before or after this one. Lightning in a bottle, never to happen again.

I also call this topic the "Songs I leap to change the station/channel when they come on" 1) that Spin Doctors song "Little Miss Can't be Wrong" or "Two Princes." Horrible songs and awful videos that tried to make it seem as if this was some band that had a massive cult following and was finally making the big time by showing them playing with tons of fans

If they were smart they'd put out a 4 CD box set: CD 1 - Original Mix remastered CD 2 - New mix CD 3 - Outtakes, unreleased stuff, alternate versions CD 4 - Live 1972 Tour songs (or add a DVD) and then sell it cheap at Best Buy like they did with the recent 4 DVD sets. Certainly a release like this deserves a bit of fanfare somehow.

Woodstock was massively hyped at the time and then furthermore by the film (which is painful to watch with all the split screens and crappy music, only a few bands were worth watching). It was just convenient for the media to link Altamont to it. The US Festival in 1983 could have easily been hyped as some new computer generation or something. These all were just huge festivals that are common
