good story about getting into the private party, if only for a few minutes!

where'd you get the poster and can we order them too?

Wonderful reviews!! Thanks paulywaul, Beast and open-g. Glad you survived the weather and could enjoy the film!

Here's the entire Berlinale press conference:

Thanks for that link ... great stuff. Now I know what was happening inside as I was trying to thaw out after nearly perishing from cold outside !!

>> Who s that lady on the left <<

you're right rooster, i'm not left (i don't appear in photos, i'm too busy) :E
but whoever that was she was a cool lady to stand at a rail near.

to answer someone else's question we were out there for close to 3 hours all together,
and it was SO freakin cold ... until the Stones arrived.
their limos went right by us, and we let them know all the right things, and it was pure joy.
all the Stones look totally totally wonderful and it was beautiful to be there with them
especially in such gallant & glamourous company: Beast, Paul, open-g & Piotr you all rock major :E

~*~*~*~*~

the movie ... first of all a couple of (i think!) unmentioned additions to the "set list":
the acoustic + harp rehearsal version of Wild Horses playing over the credits was wonderful
and it was followed by another gorgeous acoustic-guitar piece.

and an oddity (sorry if it's already been mentioned - i did read through the thread,
but i may have missed stuff): the credits included a list of about four times more songs
than were in the film - including miles of numbers that weren't played at either Beacon show
and some that the Stones have never played at all, at least not in public.
i wonder if we'll ever find out why all those are listed there - for example were those numbers
in rehearsal footage that didn't make it to the film but might be in outtakes, bonus footage, etc?
a sssoul can hope!

~*~*~*~*~

film is not my Thing. bitching in public is not my Thing either.
there are many many gloriously beautiful shining joyful say-hallelujah moments in this movie.
the Stones are utterly splendid. the guitars (when the mix is right) sound GREAT.
She Was Hot, Some Girls, Just My Imagination, Far Away Eyes and You Got the Silver are all *superb*
and Champagne & Reefer blows the freakin roof off.

what Scorsese did to Connection was physically painful - like gouging a viciously ugly wound
into the warm radiant beautiful experience, and it was very hard to recover from it.

and ... okay, maybe the world really needs another "Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones" flick -
or maybe the dvd will include bonus footage to make up a little for the imbalance -
or maybe an opportunity was kinda squandered because hollywood doesn't get it:

the power and glory of a BAND that keeps pouring out all this beauty for us, against all odds
and (in the words of Giorgio Gomelsky) "their energy is incredible
and gives everybody courage for years and years and years"

hail hail Rolling Stones

oh and a question for anyone who was at the Beacon when they filmed this Far Away Eyes:
the moment when Keith interrupts his own harmony singing to tell someone in the front
"shut up, will you?" - with a beautiful smile but still! does anyone have a clue what that was about??

ahhh look at Keith lookin just like forever:

thank you arizojp for posting it, and if the gallant and gifted Adi Tyler has time
i would *love* to see that one watermark-free ... Keith looks so freakin fine!
they all do. hail hail Rolling Stones

Oww, this one's a tricky one, watermarked all over.
But I'll sure give it a try. No tools on my laptop atm though.
I'll get to the computer soon, so give me a couple hours.

Thanks, open-g, for your sound review of Urania. Interesting. How was the audience? Were they as appreciative as the first night?

Strangely enough no, they were very quiete^^.
less laughing, less scene applauses and less rockin' the chairs - the excitement just wasn't the same.

we had a rock'n'roll audience at the Zoo, compared to Urania.
maybe that's what the ambience of an old theatre does vs. a modern style cinema?

thank you Adi Tyler - and just so you know: Ronnie was also looking just like forever -
and he looked right at us and waved as his limo crept past us, with that beautiful Ronnie Grin.
i was reminded of that inadvertently hilarious Budva report: "Ronnie came on the back seat" :E

Jane Rose - looking full-bloom gorgeous - was with Keith of course,
and i think Mick's assistant (is her name Lisa Portman?) was in his limo,
but otherwise they were apparently all stag - no wives/daughters/dates in sight.

Hi open-g ... yeah what I thought was so great at the Zoo was that for a while (the first good few songs anyway) people were applauding after each number. I remember kinda looking around at other people when I heard clapping in our area of the auditorium, and you could see a few people that had clapped looking a bit sheepish, as if they'd suddenly remembered they weren't actually at a concert - they were in a cinema !! It was such a great vibe in there, wouldn't have missed that for the world.

The pics of Ronnie on the red carpet made me fall for him all over again :-D
And damn, one time he's Jo-less and I'm not there... that's my luck...

Anyway, here's the photo. I think I've kinda ruined it though, sorry.

Yeah, saw the question, but er ... how to answer ? What exactly do you mean "who is piotr". Not meaning to be funny, but you're Tim, sssoul is sssoul, Beast is Beast, I am me, and (to state the bleedin' obvious) ... piotr is piotr !! Don't really understand your question, I have to say. What is it you wanna know about piotr; name, rank, serial number and inside leg measurement ... or any other particular details ?

I saw the pressconference all over again and it is odd that Keith thinks he played 3 nights in the Beacon!

Also interesting is the moment when Mick whispers to Ronny: "Let him" so that Keith can answer also a question from his planet.

And the question still stands: What happened in 1981 when Marty was in Berlin for the screening of Raging Bull?

with sssoul, thanks so much for your insightful impressions!

Beast, yes, that was the footage I was talking about, the interviews that afternoon with those of us without tix who were waiting around on the small chance of getting in the first night, didn't happen...I was just about tongue-tied, unusual for me, so don't expect to be on film. Maysles also filmed a little at the front of the line before the second show.

...and for the umpteenth time, ferchrissake: WO THE @#$%& IS TIMBERNARDIS?

OK, I got frustrated and pushy, sorry.

Here are examples of easy, non-invasive answers:

timbernardis is that guy from Montana who is into the Plexiglass

Rockman is from Australia and is a noted Stones foto expert and collector

Pauly is from London and goes to a lot of shows all over

withsssoul is from Poland and has a tremendous amount of detailed knowledge on the Stones at her command, especially instruments (or whatever)

is this so bad?

OK, u can say "look it up yourself" but how much trouble is a one liner like these, really, especially when we are about sharing info and helping each other out?

And face it, we are sometimes as interested in our own members as the members of the band (well, u can at least say there is interest amongst ourselves IN ourselves). Not asking for any hard work or privacy violations here.

That's about it. Simple really.
