what is HYSYMB? I'm really lost on this one.
Bottom line- is this movie as good or better sound wise, performance wise, and picture wise as AT THE MAX or LETS SPEND THE NITE TOGETHER. I have obviously excluded Gimme Shelter and Ladies and Gentleman( and no I am not asking for another Wood vs Taylor debate) because these fell into the golden period from 1968 thru 1972 and they can not top themselves at this point.

(i've had toxic overdoses of "film people"
at a couple of points in my life, so i don't tolerate certain "film people behaviours" very well.

and i finally got the press conference to play! say hallelujah :E
someone several pages ago was finding it funny that Keith thinks they played the Beacon three nights -
it's pretty obvious (isn't it?!) that he's referring to the two shows plus their rehearsals there.
>> Is the butchering of Connection as fierce as the butchering of Rocks Off on Live Licks? <<
i don't mean to keep harping on this, i truly don't. but since you ask ... let's put it this way:
when the dvd comes out i will edit what's left of Connection out of it -
unimaginable as it is to me to even think of ever choosing to skip part of Keith's set.
it's not an "edit". the start of the number is missing, then it's chopped off.
then chopped again. then chopped again. the bits that are left sound great.
what's intruded in between the bits is from that 1999 Chris Evans interview -
including (unbelievably!) snippets of a concert rendition of another number (Brown Sugar, if memory serves).
i love that Chris Evans interview - but not in the middle of the Connection! ow ow ow
and unaccustomed as i am to bitching in public, i need to add something positive here ...
let me think ... ah okay, here's one: She Was Hot made me hugely happy -
i turned to open-g and said: "they understood that it's a GUITAR band!" :E

Yep let's focus on the highlights (everybody made it perfectly clear that this movie is a must see) so I can't wait to see for myself.
Now, back to the question: did the Stones indeed leave the festival BEFORE the movie was played? Why on earth would they do that?

Was there any talk in Berlin of showing SAL on Imax ?

From what I read seems like Scorses missed a great chance to do something really surprising . .

OK, I have some questions thats already maybe been answered on this long thread. The set list on the movie is missing "im free" and "shine a ligth"? as well as "connection" butchered. I heard SAL is outro and its original EOMS version? What other songs are missing from this show? Any hope they will all be on a Japanese disc?
The Stones played 24 different songs over the two nights. 19 songs on the first night, with 4 songs being dropped for the 2nd show and replaced with 5 songs, making a 20 song set.
Songs played on night 1 only (4): Undercover, Shine A Light, Little T & A, Paint it Black
Songs played on night 2 only (5): Some Girls, Far Away Eyes, Connection, Honky Tonk Women, Satisfaction
Songs played both nights (15)Jumpin' Jack Flash, Shattered, She was hot, All down the line, Loving cup, As tears Go by,Just My Imagination, Champagne & Reefer, Tumbling Dice, You Got The Silver, Sympathy, Live With Me, Start Me Up, Brown Sugar, I'm Free
Songs in the film (19) Jumpin' Jack Flash, Shattered, She was hot, All down the line, Loving cup, As tears Go by, Some Girls,Just My Imagination, Far Away Eyes, Champagne & Reefer, Tumbling Dice, You Got The Silver, Connection, Sympathy, Live With Me, Start Me Up, Brown Sugar, Satisfaction, Shine A Light
Therefore, in the film we know that Shine A Light comes from the first show (29/11/06) and Some Girls, Far Away Eyes, Connection and Satisfaction come from the second show (1/11/06), We still dont know which show was used for the remaining 14 songs as they were played both nights.
I'm Free is the only song played at BOTH shows which isn't in the film. The other unused songs are Undercover, Little T&A, Paint It Black (from night 1) and Honky Tonk Women (from night 2)

Might have helped had they PLAYED any ABB songs over the 2 nights, but they didnt.
