Re: Europe 2007 - 40 shows

I've seen them on every Euro-tour since 1973, (and some in '65) so I can make the comparison. Yes, I was 7, but I had a very cool dad who took me along to all the shows he wanted to see himself. Young parents really is a good thing!Musically they're better now than I can remember to have seen them for decades. Energy wise, well. Jagger's like an aerobic instructor. Very fit, and we follow his instructions! Keith's been seriously ill (subdural haematoma), but still has some energy. Ans he sings better than I've heard on any previous tour. Ronnie - well - he's been everything from so so to brilliant. Charlie - always up there. The backing band: The best there is!

They're great! And when it comes to ticket prices: They can get away with 300 Euros per ticket in Norway. Definitely. This is based on experience. The most expensive tickets (Golden Circle) were the ones who sold out first in Norway. They cost almost 280 Euros... In other parts of Europe I know this is a ridiculous price. But tickets are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them. And man, are we willing!?

Well, that's the only country in europe than.

Not really
Maybe only once for the best tickets in the royal albert hall. But for a stadium? Max 120€ for fos tickets.Or maybe this time I'll buy them from scalpers at half the price.

I'm with Harm here. I'd pay 300+ euro's for another Vredenburg/Paradiso-show, whithout even blinking an eye. And I do not even have it at this moment. I only have a red zone of 1000 euro's on my bank account, I'm down 750 now, so there's no 300 to be found anywhere.

But a theatre/good arena is very very different from a stadium, where the musical experience is at the mercy of the building structure built for seating audience, and protection from too much rain or wind. Good or les good performance: in Amsterdam the sound is poor, and will always be poor. Even in FOS, where it is a mediocre 'ok'.

inflation over the last ten years aside, I would doubt its much more an expensive production than the BTB set up was, when the hydraulic bridge cost them £1 million a week, all for 15 minutes of use per show - and the ticket prices were still all around £40.

By all means convince yourself that a band playing to 60,000 people three nights a week and charging around £60 a ticket is going to struggle to break even, however..

Wage and cost development is Norway is astonishing.
Last time I was there, my poor student cousin had to buy me beers,
they cost about 7-8 Euro for a tiny 40 cl glass.

Wow. How was the 72 euro tour?
Some in 65? You must have been at both gigs at the Sjölyst in Oslo then by the age of 7? Or any of the swedish or danish ones?
Please, tell us all about it.

I think we can expect 4-5 more shows in Germany:

They'll probably take place in: Erfurt (very likely), Dresden (would make most sense of all if you want to sell as much tix as possible), Karlsruhe (rumour) and Frankfurt (probably not if Erfurt happens), Bremen and/or Hamburg.

I don't think Dusseldorf because it's only 40 km from Cologne which was packed, but not sold out this year; the Dortmund stadium appears to be too big. But a medium stadium show in the East part of the Ruhr area would make sense; high population there, far enough from Cologne.

Leipzig is definitely off I've been told this afternoon from a serious source, by the way. If the original schedule sells well, maybe there are 1-2 additional shows (Rostock would make sense as a new market).

You're right Hanns. Even more sense then Hamburg maybe, where they played in 2003 and the stadium was not sold out if I remember correctly.

How about The North Cape - for a really spectacular show... Robert Plant did one concert there, (it had been a dream of his for 30 years!) and between him and the North Pole - just the Barents sea.

What do you think? And, yes, that's the Midnight Sun...

More Plant-ish or Pink Floyd-ish than Stones-ish for me.
But sure our friend Tussler would be happy as hell.

May be you're right. But it is surely a spectacular place, and they could charter the "Hurtigruten" for accomondation and catering, lounges and snooker!

About Tussler, I don't know him. (Don't know anyone on this board, actually. But a few over at Blue Lena's and a few Shidoobeeans) Is he from Cape North? Or the region?

Tussler is a stone cool Trönder who lives
in Trondheim but works up in the Northernmost.
Hu uses snuff & has a brother who is ten feet tall.

Looks really beautiful. However, with the Stones, its all about the grosses....cant see it happening unfortunately

Gazza, I was kind of thinking it could be a perfect location for an intimate gig... To be filmed, and resorded, perhaps. People would fight for the tickets. And what a spectacular setting! But yeah, you're probably right. Grosses. (But for a "last show"-event, with friends, family and hard core fans - like some people we know... wow!)

Just got a hint that there will be news on the tour during next week. That's about freakin* time, I'd say. Most people have already planned their summer vacations. They'll have to start all over again...

Does someone knows when they gonna confirm the dates of the 2007 european tour? If they'll do it of course!!!
Just to know when and where and it will be much easier to plan our vacation with family; and the days or week-end for the Stones!
Thanks
Fougace, Montreux, Switzerland

PS: one day...the gonna play at the "Montreux Jazz Festival"!...when they gonna be 85...!

Dates of the 2007 European tour? You got a point there, don't think anyone else has thought about that.
I agree, would be nice to know the dates in advance.

The Almighty "Shidobee" (on this board,
not to be confused with the maestro 'imself, StonesDoug)
has heard a bird whisper there would be news on the tour next week.
Not too surprising if so.
I would have gueesed this week for an announcement;
but as it is THursday, I believe thats the truth of today...

Have I missed something here? There's going to be a European tour in 2007? All I've heard is a bunch of rumors from people who believe the Stones owe Europe...NOTHING at all from the Stones camp....
