Hi all

I've got a funny feeling in my bones that Europe 2007 is not going to happen. Let's face facts, they would have officially announced dates by now unless they are only going to play smaller shows.

We know that they're two thirds in it for the money and Charlie has said he ain't doin' it anymore. So see ya later alligator, in a while crocodile.

Calm down, four up to six/ seven months is more than enough time to sell 95 % of tix for 30 stadium shows.

How can you afford it?
Do you have family and friends?
How I love these stupid questions.
Is it possible to talk without having
people digging into your private life?

I don't understand why people get so uneasy about that question.
I would really be glad to see them again in Europe this year but things come as they happen, I can't influence it, so I wait if something happens, and if not, well ok, then next year.
Calm down, dear friends!

Cam on. Let's tour again with the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world
(in our views ;-) ). Be positive, it will happen! Maybe the last time. Hopefully not, but it would be the end of the world

Dude, they didn't announce ABB until May, and it opened in Aug.

I know I might get some flak but you know when I get a hunch, feeling in my bones I'm usually right. I could be wrong and if that is the case I apologise to all those who are proved correct when the time comes.

You're right there, I'll concede that one to you.

Perhaps, just perhaps they're in the middle of a new album, set design.

No need to apologize for an incorrect hunch, Nick....we may know by end of next week, though, if these people who are "in the know" are really so

Sorry, BV. I don't think they're stupid questions. The ticket prices are over the top. The travel between cities alone is costs more than most people make in a year. It's a natural curiosity. You tout yourself as being closer to the band than any of us and we ask personal questions about the band and those questions are not deemed to be inappropriate. Don't dignify them w/a reply then. Just go on moderating this sensational message board and I'll be HAP-PAY! :-)

I get info about rumoured shows in Europe every day now, from all parts of Europe, so sure there will be a tour. Just check out the IORR 2007 list of rumoured tour dates - says it all: [iorr.org] ...

I really think too that it is NOT any of our business. We don't live in the former USSR

Zagreb July 9 - Belgrade (up to 200.000! audience) July 11 - Bucharest (free show, probably BIG) July 14. Isn't this a bit too much for that part of the world??

The other way round would make more sense to me (= Bucharest as promotional TV gig to support the ticket sales in nearby countries).

Reckon the tix sales will go as fluent there as anywhere,
probably better than in for example Germany...
Reckon not too many other huge concerts event will take part then
in Former Republic Of Yugoslavia-area nor Romania.

Think you'll find they wont have actual tickets yet. There are plenty of agencies advertising package deals and taking deposits for package trips to as yet unconfirmed concerts. Happens all the time.

News: "It is still unclear when the tour will be announced officially, as contracts and shows are still being negotiated."(BV)

I suppose the official announcement will probably not take place this week.

I put my money on the following schedule (just to put my money on something): negotiation will be finished this week, press conference will be announced for next monday 5/2. The process/ticketsale fuss will be made public in the following days: fan-club sale for first series of shows starts feb 14, regular sale saturday 17/2.

17/2 at 12.00 I will be the owner of 6 tickets for a Dutch show which is NOT in the Amsterdam Arena, and some tickets for a foreign show, probably Paris again.

Great thing: at my birthday party me and a friend of mine were talking about the SDF'06 show, which was a great trip and a great show, and my mother (who had been drinking many beers by that time) said: next time, I will join too! So I will take my mother to a Stones-show! I hope it's Groningen, my brother lives there. Probably a bit too close to Hamburg/Kiel.

They may announce the tour on 2-3 months notice no problem. If it starts early June they don't need to announce anything until after Easter time. But they will probably announce it some time during the next 1-2 months. People are desperate to see them so there is no rush. Most people here would buy the ticket the same day they go on sale so there you go...

The Stones have discovered - they're businessmen also, not ONLY musicians - that when they start selling tickets early, the money come in early. From the time of the ticket sale to the actual date of the concert, they make quite a bit of money on the interrest rate. That counts, since most artists today face a dramatic drop in album sales, due to down loading... That's why they start selling tickets early.

Normally a couple of months maybe is enough to announce a tour. If the tour will take place in the fall, winter or spring. But when it comes to a summer tour I think it’s another matter.
You’re forced to plan your vacation for the summer earlier than that.
It’s not just about selling out the shows, a lots of real fans maybe will discover they’re gonna miss their show because they are are in the wrong part of the world when the band is playing their neigbourhood.

Hoping for an announcement in two weeks!

Remember The Rolling Stones are The Greatest Rock And Roll Band in the world.

Here in Spain, they can add at the european tour all shows they want, five, six, ten shows in Spain, don't mind, all the shows will be sold out, most of them the same day tickets go on sale.

Many of us will head south for the Spanish shows, yeah!

I have said this 100 times. You and me we travel to see the Stones. But most people do not. They take their car or tram or train or bus or walk. They buy the ticket the same day or the week before or any time when they feel like it. They don't plan their vacation around a Stones show. When the Stones play in Barcelona or Athens or Rome or London then the majority of people who go to that show live in the actual city, or very near. I know most people look at the world from their own point of view, but try to imagne normal people, normal people who go to one concert per year or every 2-3 years. They will buy the Stones ticket whenever it goes on sale. Now or in May.

The reasons why they do not announce the shows are very simple:
a). They are not ready yet; negotiations do take time
b). Long-term bookings take away the flexibility
c). It will be a short tour, they are not desperate to sell
d). The interest rate is not important
e). They would rather have a safe promoter than trouble like in 2006

Many reasons for doing this properly.

Do you have an estimate of how short it's gonna be? We've heard everything from a tour with only the cancelled dates up to a Euro tour of 40 shows.

See the IORR tour dates 2007 pages. It is all there you know. I.e. about the tour, including number of shows - estimated guess.

An advantage of dates being confirmed closer to the date of the concert is that there is less likelihood of a postponement/cancellation. So if you announce a Euro date when Keith is back from a winter away in the tropics, the chances of him falling out of a palm tree/shrub/pot plant are much reduced.

However the chances of a cheap flight and choice of hotel at a given location would probably be reduced. I may be a proud Londoner, but I actually prefer a trip away from the city, the Stones concert would be the main motivation for the journey, but the chance to soak in a bit of local culture is all part of the fun.
