bv I think most people on this board need two doctors anyway. Including yours truly. Keep the faith people. ............the boys are on their way.

I think youre missing the point of my remark. My light hearted note that your estimate had slightly changed was a case of me being cautiously optimistic that we'd get more shows and happy at the prospect.

I am considering going to that show just cuz it is in my grandpa's home country and I may be going back to the island of Brac where he was from. Not sure how far that is from Zagreb.

Tim, it's in Europe, it is even within the same region (and former country if I'm not mistaken...) so it really can't be THAT far, can it?

Hope you'll make it to the show, and have a nice trip around it.

i heard today of a town in croatia that is 2000 years old - a name that sounds like "split" or something...

Don't worry LQ - we'll be there! Croatia is a quite a popular holiday destination now - nice islands and beaches, I believe. I went there in the early 70s when it was still Yugoslavia - but I think it's changed a lot since then!

It looks as though we are on the verge of an announcement and that an initial 20 events is the likely outcome - mainly a "make - up" for the cancelled European gigs last year. As in previous tours they'll add the occassional "second night" when the first is selling well.

In the UK we have to count it as a bonus because we got our 5 gigs as planned last year albeit the 2 London gigs moved from Wembley to Tickenham (but then the stadium wasn't finished). I guess Dublin is a poss as wasn't there a legal case involving the promoter? And show was never confirmed last year.

If we get 1 night at 02 Centre and 1 night at the new Wembley then I'll be at both. And if not it looks like the Paris Stade de France gig (cancelled last year) is going to be the closest they'll come.

Looking forward to the tour immensely too. But if not, I'll do other things

Exphart, I'm sure you're aiming at the second SDF-show, that got cancelled. OR the first one, if you like. But the show that DID go on at the 28th of july, at the SDF, was really really really great. And what a stadium...

So what about stadia and acoustics? As far as I can judge it, the SDF has a great sound, mainly because of the wide open space between the top ring of seats and the disc (roof). The sound can escape: little resonance and no echo.

Wich other stadia are well known for there acoustics? Of course, it is all relative because they are not built for music. And is a park-show like Malieveld, Airports, racetracks etc. better soundwise, or does it have other disadvantages?

I've heared good stories about Gelredome (NL), De Kuip is quite good, (also slightly open under the hood), but the Amsterdam ArenA is the worst thing ever. At Brussels (former Heizel) i heared a lot of echo and resonance too, but not THAT bad.

Meanwhile:

Dear Stones Fan,

This Sunday brings us Da Bears versus the "Wild Horses" in the Super Bowl, which reminds us of the incredible appearance by the Rolling Stones at last year's event. We've still got a few of the collector's items that were created for last year's Super Bowl available, but this is your last chance to get your piece of Stones football history.

I'll definitely be there for Brussels and Paris. I am sure that Amsterdam would support a stadium show, although I'm not sure I ever want to step foot in that god-awful dome again.

Brussels is not that much better. Depends on where you are standing, like the Arena. FOS tickets are fine. Still, I'd rather go to Werchter.

yes, Split is a beautiful city right on the Adriatic and has the remains of the Roman Emperor Diocletian's palace/summer home. pretty impressive ruins.

And Split is just a half hour or so ferry ride from my grandpa's island of Brac.

Besides Zagreb, I would also like to go to a show or two in Spain (as per BV's recommendation and from what I hear, wild crowds, the most wild anywhere), London, perhaps Rome (but I wish it was at the Colosseum). What about Karlsruhe? I have some cousins there.

Anyone have any recommendations for which Spanish show(s) to attend? will the crowd be any more wild in certain places than others?

Has anyone anywhere heard anything about Budapest ??.

Any chance they will announce a concert there.

I am seriously planning Chorzow - Krakow and combining it with some time in Budapest would be great.

Of course it depends on dates announced, I get 12 wks hol a year but they are pre set and asking for more is severely frowned upon.

Chances for Budapest are not that bad I think. Maybe they don't reschedule the 2006 Czech concert (Brno) which was maybe way to close to Vienna and play Budapest instead. Or maybe both?

After 12 years there's I big demand in Hungary I think. Btw, Budapest was rumoured prior to Keith' palm tree accident!

Yes, but then backed out in favour of Zagreb.
For this year, assuming they will play Zagreb, Belgrade, Brno AND a free show in Bucharest, I wouldn't hold my breath for a Budapest show. Not saying it won't happen. But the chance is probably very slim.

I would imagine we should be hearing something real soon if it's going to happen. I just got an,e-mail regarding fanasylm, for pearl jam in June in Europe Munich June 12th at the Olympiahalle, where ever that is and Wembley June 18th. That could be your biggest band in the world for that festival you Euros were talking about, since you said the promotor is kind of slippery.

Split is a paradise. Was there on my first interrail back in 82.
Lovely memories from the beach...

thats Wembley Arena, though. Not the Stadium. Nothing to do with Glastonbury which is a separate festival two weeks later and about 150 miles away. I doubt Pearl Jam would be the band he's talking about, in all honesty.

Hey Gazza You know I saw the stones in Munich last year, i was just wondering what the olypiahalle was since i saw the stones at the olympic stadion? I know pearl jam ain't the biggest but i was just saying that because somebody stated that promoter was a slippery dude.

never been to Munich myself but I assume from the name both venues are near each other. The Olympiahalle is an arena that holds about 12,000. The Stones opened their European Licks tour there.
