Please behold the silence, keefstheman.
In Bv we trust, he has never - I say NEVER -

'believe' ??

NOTHING at all from the Stones

yeah,.. nothing if you count quotes from Michael Cohl and Ronnie Wood.

I guessed, they'll confirm dates - if they tour - in the end of january or in the beginning of february. So, within the next 10 days might be very realistic.

The same day The Who confirm the tour dates for the U.K. and Europe.
Go to Pete Townshend.com look at Pete's Diary.

Directed at everyone that believes there will be a European tour this year. As I've stated before, I believe the chance is minimal at best...

Re: Tour 2007...?

Well, minimal (at best) is more than zero, so if you please allow me to wait for further news in any, pos or neg, direction, thank you. I think the believers have shown more arguments for their cause then the non-believers use to strengthen their story, so we'll just wait and see, you did not give me any reason to change my expectations.

As this thread is not much different from the other Euro-tour threads, I'd like to ask what you think about this:

To support the tour, the Stones do not have to release new songs. Instead, they should release a (dvd?-) single, with a live performance from the ABB-tour.

For example

1: She's So Cold (live)
2: Streets Of Love (live)
3: Sway

Or

1: It's Only Rock 'n Roll
2: This Place Is Empty
3: Midnight Rambler/She was Hot

There is a lot of negativity in the general opinion about the Stones: not being able to perform anymore, too old, a nostalgia act. (Saw an example of this earlier this week on the Dutch tv, on a very popular show by a famous opnion-maker, Martin Bril on the show De Wereld Draait Door (the world keeps turning))The first song, which will be broadcasted on the radio, should sound familiar: people know it, but also different: it's live. The message: we are still a great live act, SO BUY THE TICKET. A reassurement.
The second song should tell people that the new songs are not bad, they are great tunes, so do not be afraid of going to the show and not knowing the new songs (which will hardly be played anyway).
And the third one is to scare the sh*t out of everybody: THIS is the stones, smokey, dark, blues...

Good idea or not?

To all negativists: The first week was a lost one,
as it mostly is, due to holidays etc.
The Stones management folks have had till now
(counted from, say Dec 21-22) less than a fortnight work week-wise
to shape a tour schedule.

Just relax and enjoy the announcement around Tuesday-Wednesday next week
(ok, a source-less prediction, but nevertheless credible).

I dont know. Theres not much they can do about the first two in terms of declining functional ability and increasing age (although personally I disagree that at present either of those two factors are a serious problem - yet. They're still able to deliver the goods as far as I can see and hear)

Theres plenty they can do to remedy the third accusation, however.

I like your DVD-single idea.

Also find the dvd-single a jolly good idea!

I am not being negative, just realistic. They are TIRED!!...been touring for about 2 yrs straight. Charlie's had it by now is my guess..it'll be hard to get him back on the road again IMO..they don't need the money and I'm certain they don't feel that they owe their fans anything. For those who are hoping for a summer tour in Europe, I wish the best.

There's always Prince at halftime during the Super Bowl in Miami on February 4th.

Yeah forget about waiting for the tour schedule, come to Miami and see the sharks!

If they're tired in November, why do you assume they're going to be still 'tired' 6 months later? Have they all got M.E. or something?

>been touring for about 2 yrs straight.

they toured for 15 months, not two years. With several long breaks (some of them enforced).. 115 shows (or whatever it was) in 15 months is hardly a relentless pace

> Charlie's had it by now is my guess..

we've been hearing that one for decades! Its never been written by anyone who actually knows him, though!

it'll be hard
> to get him back on the road again IMO..they don't
> need the money

they havent needed it for two or three decades. It still hasnt prevented them being obsessed with having more money than God and Bill Gates combined.

and I'm certain they don't feel
> that they owe their fans anything.

I presume you dont live in Europe then to be that dismissive?

If they think that their European fan base hasnt been shortchanged with 19 shows out of an originally announced 35 for a continent of over half a billion people, then they really dont have a shred of decency or credibility left. I would like to believe they still feel they have some obligation to the half million people who missed out on seeing them last summer due to an act of reckless drunken stupidity. Especially as the friggin' 'additional' American tour in the autumn (their fourth visit there in a year) had more concerts than the entire European trek.

For those who

yeah

I'll hope the Rolling Stones announce their tourdates very soon. I wait also for new tours from Diana Ross, the reunited The Police and Shakira summer shows. Hope all 4 mentioned artists play the same town in between 4 days. That would be great!

Well, not too realistic: let's say would take LTU-outdoor-arena in Düsseldorf, the other mentioned would probably play in the 12.000-seats LTU-indoor-arena bur for sure not at one day^^.
Stuttgart is the only German town I know, which has TWO indoor-arenas with more than 7.500 seats...

"We're gonna have a well-needed break over Christmas, and then we'll go back out, probably, next year," Wood says. "We'll probably do some Europe; we owe them some dates," he adds, referring to a handful of shows canceled to allow guitarist Keith Richards time to recover from a skull injury.
