Charlie COULD do it but he won't. They have a week off in the middle of the tour so theoretically they could do a few rehearsals with him and finish the rest of the shows but if he's committed to resting and recuperating after his surgery, that is what he is gonna do.
Or he could join the tour mid-way play a few songs each night get a roaring wave of acclaim, wave the crowd, retreat backstage and let Jordan play the bulk of the setlist?

How important are rehearsals? I know they have their rehearsals before every tour, but it's basically the same songs for the past x amount of years. You don't think he could just drop in? Sure some warming up, but I think he'd be able to do it.

I would not want Charlie Watts back unless he is all well and given the all clear.
However .. Me thinks he might only miss 1/2 of the tour .. (<< all speculation ..
however there is kina/ sort of a little reading between the lines that might indicate that is a possibility).
Jus sayin.
Rejoining without any rehearsals after more than two years stage absence? Totally unrealistic imo.

Like a fool I was thinking the rehearsals for him would be pushed back a month or more. I FORGOT .. the rest of the band would have to be there too with him for that. Lol My bad. I was just thinking he will rehearse a month or so later and possibly join up mid way .. (I overlooked he has to rehearse with the band themselves ..not just anyone).
However still ... RollingStone magazine stated both scenarios .. It read that he will miss 'part' of the upcoming tour (as well as 'the tour')? .. Which is why I thought perhaps he will rejoin late after starting a month or six weeks behind with a few weeks of rehearsel under his belt.
If he recovered .. and was physically able and all clear to start drumming again ... with three good weeks of rehearsel I am sure he could pull it off .. But the rest of the band would need be there rehearsing with him .. (which would be impossible.. you are right. I forgot about that).
Still wonder why it is saying he will join the band on stage later in the year and why Rollingstone magazine says he wil miss 'part' of the upcoming tour under his picture.
The No Filter Tour has been going since 2017 so Charlie will miss only part of it (i.e. the 4th leg in the US)

Or Charlie could do it like Ringo

Please don't mention Charlie and Ringo in the same sentence. They're not in the same category.

No Charlie ...no The Rolling Stones ...no tour for me ....no.
I wonder how it would be if the Internet existed in 1969. "No Brian Jones no The Rolling Stones. Who's that guy, Mick Taylor? They should quit" etc.
They played without Brian, they played without Stu, they played without Bill. They will play without Charlie if they want to.

No need for drama. They'll do this tour and then it's probably over.

After reading most of the crap in this thread I must realize
that I´m in a wrong place after being here for 20 years.
Reading this thread made me realize that I am a purist,
a nerd, a fanatic, a Stones-Taliban.
I´m totally upset that M+K go on without Charlie, even if it
was for just one show.
I´m totally upset that they kneel down in front of insurances,
sponsors and contracts at this stage of their career. They make
their own rules. They are the Greatest Band in the World.
I´m totally upset that most of the people on IORR buy this excuse.
I´m totally upset that they don´t say “Fvck the contract. No Charlie,
no tour! What´s the fine?”
I´m totally upset that Charlie isn´t irreplaceable for most of
the people here.
I´m totally upset that the common sense on IORR is that
another drummer could replace him and add something to the
sound/setlist the day and the day after the news.
And this will go on. Treason.
I´m totally upset that even the webmaster of this site is
curious what the new one will do on Midnight Rambler.
I´m totally upset that some here are criticizing Charlies
drumming/style/tempo – in a band that is known for doing
so with any instrument, the singer included – for 60 @#$%&
years. It´s their trademark. Their DNA. Unbelievable bullshit.
I´m totally upset that I have to explain that to “soulbrothers
and soulsisters” on a Rolling Stones fansite.
Retired-dog said “Did you perform the same or a similar drama
when Bill left?”. Ass_hole. I wouldn´t tell you. Why posting
the answer on this site? Useless anyway. There´s just a handful
of people who feel the same as me. But that´s good to know.
I´ve seen the band 63 times (3 times with Bill), have achieved
anything I wanted. Some really important informations I got on
IORR. Thanks, bv. This was always a helpful community, but the
Charlie news “sorted the wheat from the chaff“. It will never
be the same, for the Stones and for this site. I couldn´t stand
the band touring without Charlie and reading enthusiastic posts
of how good Steve Jordan fit in.
Like what Keith once said to Bill German: "Forward, brother!"
bv, please delete my account. Thank you.
Rolling Stones forever.

If they would do that they would not only have a law suit for the rest of their lives but there would never be another tour since no insurance company would ever make business with them again.Quote

Do you mean you think it's over after this year?
Or do you think the planned 2022 shows are still the same No Filter Tour? (Which would mean it's in Europe for the third time under the same name/concept)

After this year. My guess is that Charlie is out. And I don't think they will go forward with a Euro tour without Charlie.

In my opinion, Charlie simply said "i don't wanna go, i can't do it anymore"
So after this US leg, they are going to do some shows in Europe (mostly festivals) and UK with Jordan and it's gonna be done for ever.
History will remember that the last 25 shows or so were without Charlie.
There is no mysterious things, Charlie quits and they decided to continue for a few months.

Now that less than half of the original members are left, are they stil the Rolling Stones? They should change their name now.
