wow - very pretty, thank you Rockman!

I am wondering this: has anyone seen Keith with that goldspeckled Tele in the Wino shows? I seem to recall that guitar from somewhere.

I never seen this Jesselli before. I have two pics of another Jesselli, used for Undercover. It resembles a Gretsch 6120.

awright! Chief Moon's posted some photos of the Barbarians in LA over on Rocks Off, and in one of them Keith's got his 5-string Travis Bean!
i've never seen that one before - what a beautiful buzz! here's a link to the photos: [www.novogate.com]
Mathijs told us it's "a 5-string Standard model (straight top, dot inlay) and [Keith] used it for Before They Make Me Run with the Barbarians."

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

So which guitars were lost in that fire ?

And to drift slightly off topic, can anybody recall when Keith first appeared on stage with only five strings on his guitar...and any comments that were made at the time ?

hope someone can help you with either/both of those questions, Spud ...
meanwhile, as long as i'm here ... Mathijs wrote:

there's a photo of a Jesselli at the Dirty Work sessions on this site: [bibifarber.com]
(along with some cool stories, if anyone's missed them!) -
i wonder if that's the same one Mathijs mentioned being used on Undercover.

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

Funny how are the Music Man guitars from the Steel Wheels tour were packed up never to be seen again.

...and Keith said at the time that he loved them and that it could be the "new Strat" and a real classic.
Shortly after that he seems to have fallen back in love with all the classic "vintage" designs. I was quite surprised to see him with that Tom Anderson on the Licks tour. The John Bolin guitars are quite fun though.

Keith used a black Music Man on the Main Offender Tour (92/93),
and i think a cream-coloured one as well ...

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

Yep, Black and "vintage white". [they had beautifully flamed necks too]

Keith used to joke that, becasue they were compact, they made him look bigger! The same can hardly be said of the Gibson ES models he's currently so fond of ;^)

... bumpin this up for Mathijs - who has probably seen plenty of photos of that 5-string Bean, but still! :E

The strange thing is: this 5-string Travis Bean looks nothing like the one on the pics I have! This one seems to have a three piece top, with the middle section darker then the outer sections. The pics I have is a standard TB1000S, only with a 5-string neck. By the way, according to travis Bean himself he made four five string Travis Bean guitars, one he kept himself, two given two Keith, and one to a guitarist which name I forgot.

cool, i'm glad it was something new for you then!
i'd love to see a photo of Keith's other 5-string Travis Bean, if you've got the time, technology and inclination to put one on line ...
meanwhile, does that look like Before They Make Me Run the Barbarians are playing in Chief Moon's photos?
as i recall, that's what you said Keith used the 5-string Bean for - but if that was a different instrument ... ?

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

a few months ago pondering Mathijs's note that Keith used a 5-string Travis Bean on BTMMR on the Barbarians tour, i wrote:

>> in the Barbarians footage i have he's using a Tele and that doublecut TV-yellow LP Junior for BTMMR <<

i was just watching the Barbarians at Knebworth Fair and sure enough: there Keith is with a 5-string Bean on BTMMR!
i've only watched this footage about six squillion times and never noticed it -
you can barely see the instrument, and up until now i always thought it was his LP Junior,
but it's that two-tone 5-string Bean all right - the same one he's got in the photo Chief Moon recently posted on Rocks Off.
way cool! i'm gonna go watch it again :E

cool, thank you Rockman baby -
so the first photo could be anywhere from 69 to 72 - or later i guess: i know Keith didn't use that second Dan Armstrong for long,
but he may not have chunked it out the window right away. :E
the second one seems like it must be 78, no? i need a Ronnie's Guitars Thread - i really don't know enough about them!
