Didn't care for him at first. Thought John Mayer blew him away at the 2012 PPV. But lately he's gotten a little grit and it's serving him well. Before I thought he'd end up bland and nowhere like Robert Cray.

I've seen G.C. Jr twice now (both as an opening act); first at Petco Park opening for the Stones then as an opener for the Foo Fighters a few months later.

I was not that impressed.

As far as blues players go, I enjoy Joe Bonamassa far more than G.C. JR.

Hi Alan
Yeah I will try and go to this,I missed him at Hyde park when he played before the stones so it would be good to see him live.

Nate thumbs up

Took my teen boy on his birthday last July to see Clark Jr at the 9:30 club in DC. Great guitar player, you should definitely go!

Spent MY birthday at his Nashville show, awesome evening. He really shines live, much better than his studio work.

He's in no danger of straying into Robert Cray territory with this:

Yeah I don't agree with this at all, totally two different takes on the blues, the guitar sound / tone are nothing alike.

A lot of people can play like Clark. Not many like Cray, with such a clean sound on feeling.

He's not bad, just another average blues guitar player.
Not many here would even be talking about him if hadn't opened for the Stones.

Plenty of people are talking about him elsewhere, who have no idea (or would care) he ever opened for the Stones. smiling smiley

He's not average, he's very good.

Refreshingly, he is one of the (few) players who dares to lean on his tone and feel, and avoids the imo unnecessary fast runs and screeching sounds to gain attention.

He might need a great songwriter, though (I have only heard his first album).
