Over here in the US/NA, an arena is specifically an indoor building built for basketball and hockey with an apprx. seating capcity at around 20,000 max - give or take.

San Jose doesn't have an NFL team, so they had to settle for a soccer stadium for the 'Earthquakes'...lmao

Due to the closed construction the stadium-sized 'Indoor'-Arena feels inside basically the same like the classic 20,000 Indoor-Arena, but twice as large.

It's normally the same here in Europe - e.g. in Germany the Lanxess-Arena in Cologne or the Mercedes-Benz-Arena (former O2-World) in Berlin have both a capacity of nearly 20,000 and are used beside Concerts also for Ice Hockey.

Well yeah, but there's a big difference - literally - and not just in size.

Red Rocks would be a dream come true for fans around the world but it's not uncommon to get snow as late as the end of May.
I'd be thrilled if it turned out this was an arena tour. Would also be thrilled if they played Denver and I didn't have to get on an airplane to see the Stones.

Given the last Denver gig was in '05, they're definitely due for one, but I doubt we'd ever see the Stones play Red Rocks given they can as easily play Pepsi or whatever Mile High is called these days. "Would you like to play to 9000 people in a unique picturesque venue, or 18000 people in an arena?" is an easy choice for them, and it doesn't result in playin Red Rocks unfortunately.

Red Rocks is 8,500. If the Rolling Stones play Red Rocks....

Hi 35 love! Sparkly Top here What is 411 - lol!!!!
in prehistoric times, when people used phones for talking with other people, 411 was the number you dialed (look that up - dialed) to get someone's phone number. Give me the 411 = give me the info.

2013 arena tour (I missed it).
Although the new AVAYA STADIUM in San Jose (capacity 18,000)
has not been played yet by the RS
and the lovely San Jose Fairmont hotel is close by...
or,
the new Sacramento Stadium also never graced by RS
and then Mick and the boys can stay at my house

No Filter 2017 was a mix of Arenas and Stadia. The Arenas were big, for soccer, but still indoors 100%.
Yep - Amsterdam Arena, Telia Parken Copenhagen, Esprit Arena Düsseldorf, Friends Arena Stockholm, GelreDome Arnhem as well as U Arena Paris are Indoor-Arenas: [iorr.org] .
Yes, but these are technically stadiums. Esprit Arena is cited as a stadium for example. They all have a capacity of 30,000 to 40,000 and the stadium stage fits in. A real intimate arena setting includes a small stage, and 11,000 to may 19,000 people fitting in. And of course, because thats what I wanna see again, real great setlists with some very rare songs and up to 23 played.
Yes there's a bit of confusion regarding Euro arenas vs US/NA arenas.
Over here in the US/NA, an arena is specifically an indoor building built for basketball and hockey with an apprx. seating capcity at around 20,000 max - give or take. Amsterdam Arena is definitely not that based on NA/US defnition with a concert capacity of apprx. 68,000. If someone from the US/NA didn't know better and they were given a ticket for Amsterdam Arena, they'd be in for a surprise upon entering what the enormous stadium.
Ahoy in Rotterdam, the old Wembley Arena in London, and Stockholm Globe Arena (now knows as Ericson Globe) for example are more akin to the typical basketball/hockey arena over here in the US/NA.
The L.A. Forum (the former home of the Lakers and Kings) has a capacity of apprx. 18,000 for concerts.
On the larger side would be the Staples Center in L.A. (the current home of the Lakers, Kings, and Clippers) which has a capacity of apprx. 19,000 for concerts.
Then you look at the smallish indoor San Diego Sports Arena (now called Valley View Casino Center), and the MGM Grand Arena in Vegas both with a capacity of apprx. 16-17,000.
I've seen the Stones in all of the above, and at this point doesn't really matter if it's a stadium, a football arena, a basketball arena, a hockey arena, or whatever someone wants to call it. The fact is they're still rolling and will be performing at a venue somewhere near me. And even though I'd prefer to see them at the L.A. Forum over Dodger Stadium, wherever they play in the L.A. area I'll be there.
