The Rolling Stones are predictable. Never change a winning team:

- 14 shows per tour, two shows per week, short break in the middle
- Some times an extra mini-tour if something unique comes up
- One tour per year more or less, as long as they enjoy it (they do!)
- Lucky Dip replaced the old "first 20 rows cheap" concept
- VIP packages with monster prices with a bag of stuff for those who like that
- T-shirt prices boosting at usd 35 and up

I am looking forward to a big city tour next year in USA, probably a stop in Canada as well. NYC, CHI, LA and a few more, that will be great.

A winning formula, why change it ? thumbs up

If they start a Stadium tour April 20, it better be in Florida because April can be cold elsewhere in America. I recommend an arena tour for that time of the year thumbs up

I do believe Pink Floyd started the monumental Division Bell tour in March '94, and followed a South to West trajectory, so there is a precedent for stadium gigs in the US at that time of the year...

Plenty of new venues, and places The Stones have never "christened", both arenas and stadiums, for them to choose from in North America.

I feel like they'll do outdoor shows for maximum impact and revenue, especially if they're bringin' over the No Filter set for a NA debut. But, a return to arenas would be totally possible... Their last official gig in the US was indoors in Vegas in 2016.

The suspense is appropriate for Halloween season!

If MSG is off my guess would be Citi Field in Queens where the NY Mets play. That seems to be the outdoor stadium that hosts concerts in NYC.

There is a little arena over in Brooklyn where they played in Dec '12.

The calm before the storm...it's always thrilling. smileys with beer

If it is to be outdoor stadiums, there are quite a few that have retractable roofs - both football and baseball stadiums.
We don't have one (yet) in the Socal area, because we don't need no stinkin' retractable roof!
I think the new Rams stadium will have it all, but in the meantime, bring on the Stones!

Speaking of the Southland...

I keep wondering if The Stones could come back in Fall 2020 to break in the new joint the LA Rams are building in Inglewood? Pair that with the new Raiders' stadium in Vegas, which is opening at the same time for the NFL season...

Makes me curious whether they would forego LA next year, like they did on Zip Code 2015, to make a return in 2020 to play in Inglewood and Vegas?

lased.com

Any thoughts? I know it's down the road apiece, but we know they plan well ahead.

April 20th start. How does Stones Doug know that. Or is it speculation,as many know not much info leaks out so soon.

The forum moderators of this website made similar projections based on first hand knowledge. Of course , it is speculative as questions such as when will the new album be completed and where will they play the debut song- Please Remember, they debuted Rough Justice at the NY Library prior to that particular tour (2009?).

What concerns me is the timing of the year if they play outdoor concerts, and which I totally oppose. If it is March -April-May - most of the U.S. can be cold and have windy uncomfortable weather if it not snow as well.

If they choose an earlier start let's stick with the cozy indoors environment where everyone has a great view!

The East Coast stays cold until May now, then gets quite warm and humid.

Not sure about "Rough Justice" at the Library but they did play "Oh No, Not You again at Juilliard". I was there "You can have the money, PAL!":

It’s pointing towards arenas. Based on venues being looked at. I don’t see a mixed venue tour these days. When was the last time they played indoor and outdoor shows on the same tour, using their production?

2014 in Australia or even Desert Trip and Vegas counts as it's all easily scaleable and not particularly complicated.

No Filter 2017 was a mix of Arenas and Stadia. The Arenas were big, for soccer, but still indoors 100%.

Yep - Amsterdam Arena, Telia Parken Copenhagen, Esprit Arena Düsseldorf, Friends Arena Stockholm, GelreDome Arnhem as well as U Arena Paris are 'Indoor'-Arenas: [iorr.org] .

Yes, but these are technically stadiums. Esprit Arena is cited as a stadium for example. They all have a capacity of 30,000 to 40,000 and the stadium stage fits in. A real intimate arena setting includes a small stage, and 11,000 to may 19,000 people fitting in. And of course, because thats what I wanna see again, real great setlists with some very rare songs and up to 23 played.

Which makes them to an 'Indoor'-Stadium .... smiling smiley

The Esprit-Arena in Düsseldorf is a Stadium too, its football team is 'Fortuna Düsseldorf'. The Arena was now renamed into 'Merkur Spiel-Arena'.

Also the GelreDome is a Football-Stadium: [en.Wikipedia.org] . The U-Arena Paris is more for Rugby or Basketball.

Although the new AVAYA STADIUM in San Jose (capacity 18,000)
has not been played yet by the RS
and the lovely San Jose Fairmont hotel is close by...
or,
the new Sacramento Stadium also never graced by RS
and then Mick and the boys can stay at my house drinking smiley

Yes there's a bit of confusion regarding Euro arenas vs US/NA arenas.

Over here in the US/NA, an arena is specifically an indoor building built for basketball and hockey with an apprx. seating capcity at around 20,000 max - give or take. Amsterdam Arena is definitely not that based on NA/US defnition with a concert capacity of apprx. 68,000. If someone from the US/NA didn't know better and they were given a ticket for Amsterdam Arena, they'd be in for a surprise upon entering what the enormous stadium.
Ahoy in Rotterdam, the old Wembley Arena in London, and Stockholm Globe Arena (now knows as Ericson Globe) for example are more akin to the typical basketball/hockey arena over here in the US/NA.

The L.A. Forum (the former home of the Lakers and Kings) has a capacity of apprx. 18,000 for concerts.
On the larger side would be the Staples Center in L.A. (the current home of the Lakers, Kings, and Clippers) which has a capacity of apprx. 19,000 for concerts.
Then you look at the smallish indoor San Diego Sports Arena (now called Valley View Casino Center), and the MGM Grand Arena in Vegas both with a capacity of apprx. 16-17,000.

I've seen the Stones in all of the above, and at this point doesn't really matter if it's a stadium, a football arena, a basketball arena, a hockey arena, or whatever someone wants to call it. The fact is they're still rolling and will be performing at a venue somewhere near me. And even though I'd prefer to see them at the L.A. Forum over Dodger Stadium, wherever they play in the L.A. area I'll be there.
