The right to bear arms. THAT is in the US Constitution only because the founding fathers were worried the Brits would return and they wanted everyone in the US to be able to defend their country. Look where this has led. The NRA should be held accountable.

Condolences to everyone who has lost loved ones and RIP to those so tragically taken.

BS - you reacted to my comment to Len Motlow about killing innocent animals for fun by making puerile and mocking troll comments about that - quote shadooby - 'In the meantime, watch out Bambi! Happy hunting!'

I can't help but think of the brave musician being the first one running off the stage to safety while everyone below was in a firing squad. Maybe grab a mic and help people to exit.

How about the smart phone crowd trying to capture the moment recording the chaos. I'm surprised they weren't taking selfies.

Well, I think both of the above have merit.
Worth noting that well over a million Americans have been killed by guns since John Lennon was murdered.

And sadly many more have been murdered before him ( all over the world), but my point was not about statistics - it was about Bastion stereotyping every American as some sort of gun toting lunatic who has a fiendish craving for gun violence, and then throwing the whole country in the dump based on that conclusion. As seen in this very thread, not every American has a "disgusting, filthy" fascination or fantasy with guns - some are totally against them.

Neither guns, politics, or mental illness can account for or begin to explain this kind of evil.

Prayers for the suffering and the dead.

Exactly.

I sure as hell won't consider that dude a friend now. He race-baited to within an inch of his life in this thread (mocking Chicago gang violence, bringing up black-on-white crime, his coded use of the term "baby mama").

I have no interest in finding common ground with people like that. Marc Maron had a funny bit in his latest Netflix special about Trump voters trying to bond with him.

"Hey...but we both like Tom Petty, right?"

"Um, yeah. I think it's gonna take more than Tom Petty to paper over our differences. You also said '@#$%& the Jews'."

No, in fact America is the greatest country in the entire history of the world. Sure it has its problems just like any other country has problems but America bashing is just a worn-out cliche. America and the West rule, and they have ruled for the past 400+ years. From the moment you open your eyes in the morning you see the benefits of Western Civilization and Western Culture everywhere you look. And this lasts until you close your eyes when you go to sleep. It's worth it to put these things in perspective sometimes.

Take the Red Pill.

Well, don't be surprised if Americans land humans on Mars in the 2020s. It's easy to be cynical but the reality remains that the vast majority of people across the world have it better than ever and that is largely due to America. For all you know in your lifetime the James Webb space telescope will detect life on another world, thanks to American innovation, optimism, creativity, hard work, and advanced technology. The best days in many ways are already here and even better days are yet to come.

This horrible shooting is not about America, it's about a mentally unbalanced person, and there will never be a world free of mentally unbalanced people. It will happen again in the future but that is no reason to not love life and love music and love people and be proud of your country.

In the past I have stayed away from political discussions on this forum, but in light of the tragic events in America in the last 24 hours, I feel the need to offer some thoughts. I am all for a person's right to bare arms, but I guess I don't understand why Americans can't come together to take some action regarding the easy availability of acquiring assault weapons- weapons that have their place in the theatre of war. In our country, whether it be at gun shows or some other venue, it is just too easy to acquire these types of weapons. How many more senseless deaths is it going to take for citizens to be sick and tired of being sick and tired?

We’re in major trouble folks who don’t live here, nothing will get done and more senseless killings will take place.

A rather remarkable speech by Jimmy Kimmel:

Since the corporate media has been completely cowed into submission by the White House resident's bullying, late-night talk show hosts have really stepped up and filled a void, which is a sad indictment of how pathetic journalism is in America.

Thanks.

Don't want to get too deep into this, but seriously, what planet are you on? The corporate media has been completely trashing President Trump and before that they completely trashed candidate Trump. Ironically I agree, journalism has become pathetic in America. The void has been filled by places like YouTube, not by late-night talk show hosts.

Not nearly to the degree that it's warranted. The idiot talking heads on CNN today were saying how "Presidential" he appeared simply for reading a perfunctory speech off a teleprompter without blurting out the N-word or calling the Mayor of San Juan a c*nt.

The bar has been so lowered for this imbecile that any time he doesn't go berserk, it's considered a "win" for him politically, like he's a three-year old being toilet trained.

Yes, some segments of the media have been harder on him than I thought they would be, but he's still been normalized to an alarming degree. This man is a clear and present danger to this country, and too much of the coverage is treating him like he's just another in a long line of Presidents.

He certainly seems on edge with the recent spate of account deactivations. Perhaps the traveling is wearing him down and he's just tired and irritable.

I do feel bad that he's going to see this thread and get pissed off...as much as I try to respect his wishes, I just can't hold my tongue whenever political issues come up.

Wonder if the Stones will alter the setlist. SFTD seems a little awkward as an opener right now. Gimme Shelter>Midnight Rambler would be epic.

Agree with 35Love. We're all adults. We shouldn't need anyone to put us in IORR jail for being bad or exile us. I understand how tragedies invoke anger. Fair enough. If you've calmed down and regret words said in the heat of the moment, edit your post or delete them. If you quoted someone who deletes or edits an inflammatory remark, kindly do the same.
