Just listening to Coming Down Again, i always wanted to know what this part of the lyric means.
If anyone can help i would appreciate it.

Slipped my tongue in someone else's pie
Tasting better ev'ry time
She turned green and tried to make me cry
Being hungry it ain't no crime

My Dirty mind says that with pie, they mean vagina. the rest speaks for itself, i think.

Yeah, only that it's not "she", it's "he" who turned green.

We're obviously expecting to see Dancing With Mr. D and Play With Fire (both are amazing and im excited to hear both). Along with your usual warhorses and I think maybe a Blue and Lonesome track or two.

---

Whilst the rehearsal choices have been interesting (remember that 'Under My Thumb' has not been played live in over a decade, as well as the above), I believe they may have been running through some of the songs that will win the 'fan vote' at different shows.

I expect to hear no more than one of 'Dancing With Mr. D.', 'Play With Fire' and 'Under My Thumb' at Hamburg [Edit: maybe two, as 'Under My Thumb' has been widely played in the past], along with one track from Blue & Lonesome and 16 or 17, shall we say, more familiar tunes.

I will be happy if I'm proved wrong.

I would bet good money we will never hear Dancin with Mr D at a real show...
Not a chance Mick would risk it

2120 South Michigan Avenue
Jiving Sister Fanny
Stop Breaking Down
Claudine

If they played the Satanic Majesties album straight through to promote the new release my life would be just about complete.

I can't say I'm counting on that.

I disagree. I do fear, however, that if they play it and he gets "the blank faces" we'll never hear it again.

Rockers/singles rarely played live
Posted by: john lomax ()

"Dancing with Mr D" has been a great addition to this year's set list and it got me thinking.....what other upbeat songs (i.e. Not slower ballads like "Winter" or "Let it Loose") are there that the band have rarely played which could be added to the set in future..... i.e. What other rarities are there....

I exclude songs like Winter, Let it Loose and Time Waits for No-one because they are they are too long, too slow and too difficult and I just can't see Mick wanting to ever do them.

Here are some possibilities (there aren't very many and most are highly unlikely...)

Casino Boogie
Ventilator Blues
Soul Survivor
Why do you hide your love
Luxury
Lies
Where the Boys all go
Hang Fire
It must be Hell
One Hit to the Body (not really a rarity but sort of)
Sad Sad Sad
Brand New Car
Lowdown

Re: Rockers/singles rarely played live

Ventilator Blues would be cool, and it's realistic to pull it off, too. The only problem might be re-creating the intensity in the vocals?

Luxury (a few times), Lies, Hang Fire, Sad Sad Sad have been played quite a lot, though.

LowDown (once), One Hit and Brand New Car have been played a few times..

-Rip This Joint, but don't think they could do it justice in a live setting at this point in time as the original is quite fast.
And no Bobby to play the wailing sax solo (no offense to the new guy).

Some that might work:

-Let Me Go
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg (A cover, but a good one)
-Hand of Fate
-Dance (pt1)
- Undercover (if they can play the crappy Mixed Emotions at Desert Trip last year, why not play this?)

If the set list was up to me, the following would be quasi warhorses!

Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?
Dance Little Sister
Summer Romance
Everything Is Turning to Gold
Tie You Up / Feel on Baby / Pretty Beat Up
Had It with You (why they never performed this live since Bill left, is a mystery. Just imagine the four of them on the B stage or cat-walk whatever, Ronnie on sax!!!)

I would even add It Won't Take Long: it was tried maybe only once and it worked great!

Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing In The Shadows would be the ultimate song to kick their shows with. They haven't played it live since 66 but I reckon iyt would be a hard one to do with all those syncopated beats.

I got Stray Cat Blues in Boston in 2002 - Licks Opening Night. Good track, but Lyrics are very controversial and would need revision if played nowadays.

I've said it before, but I would like to see them play more of their early/mid 60s run of hits that made them famous in the 1st place. Or even Well known album tracks from that period. Play with Fire and Under My Thumb in Hamburg was a good start cool smiley Even if they aren't rockers.

These songs are all well known and wouldn't be lost on the large 1-gig-a-tour or 1-gig-a-lifetime element of the crowd.

Star Star should be played every show. They have played it many times of course but not much in the last 20 years. It could be a tribute to chuck berry.

Had it with you
Pretty beat up
Little by little

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Here's my list:

We Love You
I Am Waiting
Have You Seen Your Mother
Out Of Time
Ventilator Blues
Feel On Baby
Tie You Up
Down In The Hole
Coming Down Again
How Can I Stop

Not many singles or rockers in there, though..
