This is the strongest hint yet! So pick from Wembley, Twickenham or maybe an indoor venue such as O2 or Wembley Arena. Don't rule out Hyde Park either as it hosts events outside BST, such as Jeff Lynn's ELO last September.

And like the fool that I am, I've just signed up to this Stonesism lark. So no Knebworth but London very strongly and subtly hinted at. Luckily for me, living 80 miles away, I can get there at short notice pretty much any time.

Hallelujah! London at last (and this sounds a whole lot more likely to me).

I would actually much prefer London as it's a helluva lot easier to get to than Knebworth, especially so for the many European IORRians who will charge across in their droves for this as they did for Hyde Park and the O2.

Too rights, relying on public transport like I do Wales to Knebworth is a ball ache but London is 3 hours direct.

I would rather it was in London as well as I could make it back home,and it would be easier for fans from outside of London to get there

That's a very good shout as they've yet to play it since it was rebuilt and I'm sure they're keen to do it. Last show there was 12th June 1999. I was there. The tail end of the BtB tour and their last £30 all GA tickets tour. The whole lower tier of seats was unreserved too and available to GA ticket holders. And even then it still wasn't sold out! Impossible to imagine nowadays...

My prediction is now Wembley. My guess is that they probably tried for Knebworth but that Country Show beat them to it.

A residency at the Royal Albert Hall after the Proms would be my dream. The acoustics in the hall are out of this world

Oh forgive me, a London gig is extremely likely yes. But anyone expecting Knebworth this year is out of their mind.

What's the capacity of the new Wembley ? I think the old stadium was around 72,000

Maybe they would be looking to do one show only if we are talking 80,000. Was Hyde Park around 60,000 a night ?

Of course they could have some other festival site / Park / Stadium lined up or......nothing.

I agree - Knebworth is looking like a dead duck. But it does sound like they are sniffing around for a venue and London seems like the best bet with several to choose from. The new Wembley is my pick as they've not played it yet. Their promoters and marketers must realise demand would be huge and it would be an easy sell out, hopefully ticket prices won't be too looney if s stadium.

Straycatuk here thinks The Stones will make an announcement that they'll play Knebworth in only one month's time on a day when there is a scheduled county fair on at the same location.

It's just ludicrous.

Yep, that's my take too. August 15th could well still be the date, but just not at Knebworth. We'll see.... It does definitely sound like something is afoot though.

The O2 Arena is free most of August, Wembley Stadium is free for mid August...

here is hoping for Wembley, 20 min tube ride for me and that big of venue should keep at least some ticket prices affordable
