Oh no . It'd be a bit soon for me .

I only just got over '76 !

Probably one of the most tiring days of my life...and I had bit more energy when I was 16.

thumbs up Tell us more, just a bit please.
Tiring because all of the way to o there, to stand in the sun, to wait for the Stones, to crawl your long way back home - some details would be gentle here.
Thanks in advance.

...of course I'd be there.

I could afford a better bed for the night than a trolley on Stevenage station this time ;^)

To be fair...I probably wouldn't bother with one.

To this day I still sit outside Kings Cross all night when I've attended a London show.

Maybe any locals might be able to help me: If I don't want to book a hotel night, am I able to get back to either Luton or Stansted directly after the concert? Any night busses, trains?

Thought about renting a bike. It's only 1h...

What concert?

This is a copy/paste of an email Deltics got yesterday (from page 8 of this thread).............

Dear xxx,
Thank you for your email.
The Rolling Stones are not playing here at Knebworth in August and the Country show is being held here.
I hope your daughters enjoy their day with us.

Hi Spud,

Neither a Lender nor a Borrower be and all that winking smiley ? I'm a Scot so I take a similar stance smiling bouncing smiley. A night under the stars or at a railway station does not phase me in the slightest. In 2006 I sat on concrete outside Cardiff Central Station after the gig at the Millenium Stadium on the ABB Tour and got the 6am train home. There were a good few other fans there too. I only went to 2 gigs on that tour (the other being Paris 07) and from all I've read and heard, I'm glad of that smiling smiley

I also sent the same email to Oakleigh Fairs who are organising the Country Show, this is the reply I got today:

Hi, we have checked with Knebworth who have checked with Harvey Goldstein and as much as all parties would like to see the Stones at Knebworth it will not happen this year, so all we can offer is a little Satisfaction and hopefully no need of any shelter!

With best wishes

I have no idea who Harvey Goldstein is I can only assume they mean Harvey Goldsmith.

This isn't happening. However, I am sure there are other attractions to Stevenage. has anyone actually got a non-refundable hotel?

The last song is pretty much unplayable in this day and age Martha. I saw them play it live on the opening night of Licks in Boston in 2002 but recent news stories probably make it a non starter.

Guess you're probably right... was thinking perhaps possible with a few tweaks to the lyrics but perhaps not!

Nope I agree smiling smiley Cracking Tune imho and would love to hear it live again. With changes to the lyrics you can uncross and re-admit it in my book. If you listen carefully at shows you'll note that for many, many years now Mick has amended the original (very un-PC) lyrics of Brown Sugar (also in our "Set List" btw) and I'm sure he can do exactly the same to Stray Cat Blues. smileys with beer
And yes it's true, many farmers do keep cats to deal with their mice problemthumbs up

Actually in the old days it was really common but in this day and age with all the food safety regulations, cats (feral or otherwise) are generally a no-no on food farms. Control is done with numbered traps, with strict rules for placement and times for checking them. Unfortunately, many farmers still use poison to kill mice and rats in the field and elsewhere.

Cute picture!

Seems they might as well have cats if they're using poison - but that's just my uneducated in farming (modern or otherwise) methods.

I totally agree. When poison is introduced into the ecosystem it affects the entire food chain. Snakes and owls and other birds of prey eat the dead rodents (and snakes), and coyotes and other predators eat the birds. The poisons available at farm supply outlets are a nasty piece of business.

I love cats (we still try to keep a few around) and the feral ones are terribly effective hunters.

A bit OT but a good story I'll sneak in here: We have a momma pink tinged grey can on our farm who lost a litter to some raccoons a few years ago. She is small and very sweet but when she sees and raccoon, no matter how big, she still charges full speed at it, jumps in the air from about 10 feet away and flails nothing but claws and teeth at the thing, Tasmanian devil style. She always wins the battle. smoking smiley
