An equal and not very interesting match with a beautiful goal at the very end. Bad luck for the Argentinians. The Germans had one day extra to recover from a very easy game against Brazil, the Argentinians had lesser time to recover from a very tough game against the Dutch. Maybe that made the difference. A pity we missed a match with the Germans vs. the Dutch. Both equal to Argentina, both much better than Brazil. It would have been a dream final.

Thanks for the compliments to you and to firebird. It was fun to play the prediction game, so here's to Silver Dagger for starting it: smileys with beer

About the final: it wasn't a boring game, though I expected more from both teams. Germany possessed the ball for more time than Argentina, though the best chances to score were with the hermanos. Congratulations to Germany (or Deutschland) and to all our german friends here. You deserved the World Cup. thumbs up

I'm glad Germany didn't play the Dutch. You would have been supermotivated and may even have won. grinning smiley

Argentina undoubtedly wasted opportunities.

Nonetheless, per Marca, Spain: "Höwedes debió ser expulsado por Rizzoli" and that was in the first half but that's how Football goes.

Without a doubt, that happens all the time though. Congrats to Germany, undobutedly the best team in the tournament.

For the neutral watcher of course. For the supporters it was undoubtedly an exciting match. For me not so much, with or without glasses.

neuers foul was attempted homocide, just like schumacher 1982. should have seen the red card plus penalty. and damned argentina missed so many chances, even messi had the title on his foot, as we say in german. they played a good tournament, but in the final argentina was way better. sad.

Wonderful match. Exciting until the last second. A BIG thank you to both teams. And congratulations to Germany.

Mercifully didn't go to a shootout...but yes a good exciting game. Would have preferred a few goals taking us to overtime, but didn't take anything away from the play.

I think Germany was slightly better today, but only just. This win could have easily gone to Argentina.

Not a fan of anything GERMAN...too bad they won. That close up of Mick with the England cap on is the first time I've seen the diamond in his tooth in YEARS!

How sad for you.

It's a shame when anyone is so close minded isn't it?

Superstars celebrate Brazil 2014

Sir Mick Jagger knows what it’s like to play in sold out stadiums around the world, so The Rolling Stones frontman felt right at home when talking to FIFA.com moments before Sunday’s FIFA World Cup™ Final at Estadio Maracana.

With reigning champions Spain, four-time winners Italy and his beloved England exiting before the knockout phase, Jagger says the surprise eliminations set the stage for what many have called one of the best FIFA World Cups ever.

“It’s been a great tournament I think. There’s been a few surprises, which is what people like,” Jagger said. "The first surprise is all teams getting knocked out, like Spain — that’s sort of never happened. So then you’ve got other teams coming through, you’ve got Colombia coming through, Costa Rica winning the group, these were quite exciting moments. Algeria did well [too]."

The Englishman is at his second successive FIFA World Cup having attended some games at South Africa 2010 – including sitting next to former USA President Bill Clinton during USA’s defeat to Ghana in the Round of 16.

“It’s been a fantastic atmosphere,” Jagger said of Brazil 2014. “South Africa was a great atmosphere but this is a great atmosphere because it’s obviously such a big footballing country."

Jagger said that he has been impressed by goalkeepers during the tournament, particularly Germany’s Manuel Neuer, Costa Rica’s Keylor Navas, Mexico’s Guillermo Ochoa, and USA’s Tim Howard.

“Ochoa was great, everyone liked his performances,” he said. “The ‘keepers have been impressive. They’ve been outstanding.”

i am not a follower of either team, nor do i follow football, but I watched the game and thought it was entertaining for a 0-0 game after normal time!
Argentina looked the more dangerous team I think. And should have scored at least 1 goal.
Germany looked better in the second half after starting a bit nervous...or maybe with that guy getting injured in the warm up affected them a bit.
Germany took their chances, Argentina didn't...game over.
well done to the Germans.

It was a very exciting match, Argentina missed a great opportunity and great goal from Götze. Congrats for the German team and Tony Martin who won in the Tour yesterday.
