Can't believe it.

One of my heroes, and probably to a lot of people on here.

RIP Lou.

The VU was probably the most subversive group I ever heard. Growing up in Southern California at the time and hearing the Nico, WLWH albums...Whew! It sounded like it was music from a different world...and it was. There is a boot from Ohio in '66. The audience's stunned reaction to the performance of Heroin is understandable and now amusing. The VU carved a path that was so against the grain of the time. It still is astonishing.

Dammit Lou, you were one of the great ones.

(No need to apologoze for being OT, this certainly is not)

Oh the irony, I was just listening to a bunch of 1977 live tapes (including the newly-surfaced Fréjus one) and bang! the news drops...

Saw him many times from 1975 to 2012.
The Berlin tour with Hunter and Wagner will stay as one of the best tour ever

No one ever meant more to me as an artist than Lou Reed. The Velvet Underground showed me that freedom was my right as a creative person. This hurts me as though I knew the man. Thank you, Lou.
