There were better Midnight Ramblers. The two Micks didn't harmonize as brilliantly during the harmonica-guitar duet as they sometimes did before. Mick Jagger tried to get that magic somehow, I think, and was talking to Mick Taylor during that part several times, but I could not understand, what he was saying. Nevertheless it was a good version.

My impression was that he was telling the sound people he needed to hear more harp.

Interesting, so it could have been a technical problem. I have to watch the video again. Have only seen and heared it once.

Me too. But that's how it looked/sounded to me. That kind of problem is typical at festivals -
even for immortals, apparently! :E

I love the Rolling Stones

You should never judge the tv mix too harshly. The sound goes through all kinds of converters and compressors at the station to make it suitable for all kinds of devices. You can sound great on stage and on the field and crap on tv. And every tv does different things to the sound it gets fed.

The mix I heard on my tv had a lot of Ronnie, who played real well I thought. It had not so much Keith and even the lead vocals were less loud than normal. That said, I kinda liked it.

Didn't see too much posing either. Listen to Ronnie's Sympathy '69 tribute licks here and there... he actually played a lot.

It looked like they really wanted to do this one and fed off the energy of the crowd. They took risks and had fun. I felt it was a group effort to win over the enormous crowd and a lot of thought has gone into this show. And even the warhorses weren't too long. They kept those snappy imo.

They were clearly enjoying themselves and it showed. Sometimes they were off, but they are almost 70 and play for more than two hours. Come on.

Great show. Hope to see the first part soon!

2000 Light Years !!!!

Its THAT good! Its getting me emotional watching it.
Who cares about the few first off key words. Its the best new goddam song on the tour yet and wont be beaten. Awesome.
As Bill says "I love that song"

Dough

Mick has had several these off key problems during this tour, I wonder if this is some technical or monitoring thing or an age thing?

Did he have these issues on previous tours? I remember he used to be quite reliable as a singer.

Not that this was any huge problem for me for this song but I just wonder...

The phrasing, more importantly, is way off as well, and there's something missing in the beat that I can't put my finger on.
I was stoked when I saw this pop up on the setlist report but after listening to it I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about it.

They really have to up their ante if the Hyde Park gigs are going to be anywhere near tonight's performance.

What does the OP mean by "go out"?

In between songs Mick indicated quite clearly that there is no end in sight.

"And if you're seeing the band live for the first time, do come again!"

Because they played a monster gig to a young crowd. Not sure that the setting in HP will be as good.

The setting will only be worse if you stand there like you all have on this tour staring at the band through a camera lens.

How do you keep track of all those fascinating personalities (and e-mail addresses)?

A while back some crazy woman kept "randomly" dialing my number. She always claimed she was trying to reach someone else. I think she was just lonely, and I felt sorry for her, but it didn't stop me from changing my phone number. She ended up threatening me before I did so, though. Now she's probably calling someone else, claiming her epilepsy made her do it.

In a blaze of glory? It's basically the same show, the same songs, repeated all over again in almost exactly the same manner. It's a good nostalgia act, nothing more, nothing less. Et Veritas.
