MT seems to have trouble playing tight. He's often in front of the beat.
Right, I wonder what's the trouble. Some sort of 'blackout' every now and then it seems.

Bigger stages and PAs can do that to you, if it's been a while.

However, the monitoring should be pretty predictable, with the top notch equipment the Stones are using.
Might be that he is searching for new things to play/improvises more more often than back in the day? It looked that way on the second CYHMK to me.

Yes, there he had serious timing issues that cannot be coursed by lack of good monitoring. It's like his coordination between the left and right hand has gone sometimes. Doesn't sound like improvisation issues to me.

"Blackout", "neurological problems", man that's way too far fetched. Next time you might say something like 'comatose'?

Maybe he's just a bit nervous then. Just guessing. But it's something that happened since two years or so. Never heard it before.

I think it are his nerves. He doesn't suffer from this during the Ramblers. But when he has to prove himself on Knocking, knowing everyone will be critical, being in the spotlight, I believe his nerves are still a bit shaky. He simply needs more Sways (no problem btw during his only Sway solo so far) and certainly some more Knockings to solve this little problem adequately.

His playing as always is unpredictible, changing every night like any true virtuoso.

The timing was off also when he played the simple riff in Satisfaction in the clip above, he wasn't locked in.
It's probably about nerves. Adrenaline is running high and being in the middle of all the excitement for a few minutes takes away the attention from what the other guys are playing. It's a bit distracting though, especially since the Stones has always been a band with impeccable timing.

BLACKOUT?!! MICK TAYLOR?? Have you listened to Ron Wood on stage for the last 25 years? Sloopy, unfocused leads night after night...thats what the Stones have gotten with Ron Wood since 1975.
Mick Taylors playing on this tour has been the highlight of the 50 anniversary. His playing as always is unpredictible, changing every night like any true virtuoso. The Stones are very exiting again when he is on stage. They dont sound like a tired Vegas act as he improves the sound quality of the whole band.
I have to give the Stones credit for bringing him back. The line in the sand against Taylor coming back in the fold was one I never thought would be crossed. I think Ron Wood helped bring Mick back on board and for that I am thankful. MT's contributions to Let it Bleed (live with me), Sticky Fingers(Sway, Cant you hear me knocking, Bitch, Moonlight Mile), Exile(sould survivor, all down the line, ventilator blues, stop breaking down), Goats Head (Winter, Star Star, Hide your love) and Its only R&R(Time waits for no man, Dance little sister) have not been surpased from Black and Blue up through Bigger Bang since his departure.
If you want to hear Blackout playing listen to Ron Wood's live versions of Cant you hear me knocking, Sway, If you cant rock me, you cant always get what you want, and gimme shelter and compare them to Mick Taylors. Whos playing in a blackout state??

A very critical Taylorite. 80 years of age is no valid excuse for diminishing skills to me unless you are ill or have a handicap.
