A pity Ticketmaster doesn't have the same functionality as Eventim, where you actually can see how many and which tickets are sold.

They won't. Its very clear that they aren't saying what the $85 seats are until you get to the venue. Thats literally the entire gimmick of those tickets. If they assign seats, scalpers can get them or you can sell them for way more than you paid for them.Quote

While it would be disappointing for the Stones to play to empty seats, I hope they assign the $85 seats before they discount some of the expensive seats.

Tongue pit at $600 or $1500? I don't think I've read about anyone getting a pit at the $600 face value so far? Having had a blast in the pit at the O2 on the 25th, if I was in the US I don't think I'd have a problem buying a pit ticket for $600...
Not that I cared that much, but why did Jagger make jokes about it at every one of the shows last year. It was very clear they were overpriced and then he rubbed it in everyone's face. I thought it was funny, but I also didn't shell out the money. If I had, it kind of made him sound like a dick. "Concert tickets cost... well I don't want to go there. But you paid it!"Quote

The tour starts next week and not one North American date is sold out. Surely that is a first for the Stones and a very telling sign they overpriced the tickets?

On all of the bootlegs there is a collective groan when he made those comments. A groan among the audience of 'yes, we know you are killing us, and we're still taking it'. They are laughing to the bank with these prices. The first performance will tell us everything we need to know about the lottery seats. If the majority of these seats end up at the rear of the arena, people will likely think twice about taking the risk. If they end up all over the arena, the party will continue.

As far as I know, no one has picked up a tongue pit ticket for 600.00 for any show in the US in 2013. Floor and lower tier Las Vegas seats are 780.00 or so with charges.

Thanks, so in 2013 the "tongue pit tickets" are really "VIP Tickets"...not very nice of them is it! In these conditions I can't imagine that there will be too many $85 tickets in there...I wonder if the fans who have access to Shelley Lazar's "band tickets" were able to get pit tickets at $600 or if they had to pay the full face value as they normally do.

Full face value.
Check it our the VIP Tongue Thing is only available in small numbers in 2nd Boston and Anaheim. Rest is sold or via secondary markets. I do not always know what is shameful. Creating the Chance with the 85$ to gambole for a Pit or back in the Roof or to pay and be first. The times are over that I am willing to wait outside the night before the gates open. But I do respect the ones who like that. Still it might be a Justin Bieber Thing (sorry or what ever..) but there are many People who also would dare to see the Stones upfront, but perhaps have Walking disabilities or what ever. They might scratch all the bucks together just to get that once in a life time Chance. And they have it now. Experienced such at 02 myself. It's all the Point of view. And mind you if the Rolling Stones would Charge less, you wouldn't be able to grap a cheap ticket either or only a very Little amount of fans and the rest would go via agencies again.Quote

....since I believe all the shows still have pit packages available. In effect the Stones are fleecing their most dedicated fans or pricing them out of the best seats, shameful...

I agree that the $85 "lottery" is not great either and so far people are hoping they will get good seats, even the pit, not sure how that will play out...
