Eventually they will be all sold out - somehow. I totally agree that for nosebleed seats a 600 to 700 $ Ticket is way out of range. At the end you can gamble on the 85$ or go for the safety seat. I think this is by far very fair. If you intend to spoil yourself go for the VIP thing. I assume Vegas will be sold out in no time. Once the tax year is done (end of April for US) they will go for tickets even if they are higher priced.
For sure secondary market will drop like in November and December.

Yes, but refunds aren't mailed until mid-May or so, if you've waited till April 15th to file.

Thats horrible news...even eFile?

Having been self-employed for several years, I sure miss those days of receiving a refund check in the mail, and I believe a check in the mail is still the method for receiving a refund.

Alright, so I'm a little behind the times. I only bought my first CD player 8 years ago. eFile? For me, that will be sometime around 2032 or 2033. I need to catch up on everything else first....

From the maps I've seen those $450 seats are the worst in the arena (45 degree angle behind the stage), the $150 are better. So no wonder those aren't selling.

So you're saying that whole 1988 musical journey with Jimmy Rip on guitars dripping in chorus and Ibanez tone was all Jagger needs to succeed?

No, but now when you say it: if Jagger would tour alone, he surely would not gather so much attention and audience and total gross as he would do with the Stones, but would he still earn more than one fourth of the cake he makes from the Stones? I mean if he would put his hearth into it, and there is no way the Stones would tour again, and people be awere of that, I think he would do rather well (it would been as close to The Rolling Stones as one could get). For example, seemingly Springsteen and Macca are as individual artists doing better than him, even with lower ticket prices, but are they really bigger shots than him?

That Jagger sort of failed once, would not mean that he would always fail.

Maybe if they dont sell the high price seats day of show maybe they will be reduced to low prices,

I think not

I think so. They're not gonna play to empty seats. They'll give 'em away first. Anything to preserve the illusion that the show is "sold out" and that the Stones are still a "hot" ticket.

What do they care if the tickets sell or not? The promoter is the one taking the risk. the band gets paid whether anyone buys a seat or not.

If the promoter gets stuck with a load of unsold tickets that they suddenly have to unload at the last minute for $85, they're going to take a bath, and it will be impossible for the Stones to find another promoter that will let them get away with charging these prices ever again.
Oh boy. Its a good thing they aren't 70 and they need to worry about finding a promoter for future tours. Honestly, that'd be perfect for them. They charge insane prices. If it works, great. If it doesn't, they are screwed in terms of ever charging that much again, but they still get paid. And most likely they won't be touring much longer so even if this tour ruins their chances of getting a promoter again, its not like they realistically needed to worry about keeping their options open.

I'm sure they'd like to keep their options open, and tour McCartney style; sporadically, for several years to come, but if they can't get a guaranteed $5 million per show, they may not feel it's worth the bother.

Doxa - I have NO interest in seeing Mick Jagger without the Rolling Stones. That mini tour of Japan back in 1998 was bloody awful.

Given I can pull up just about any seat/pit type for any U.S shows that have been on general sale for 24hrs on Ticketmaster it seems the pricing model may be....broken?

Seems the public have gone "stop, we'll think about this"....rather than just diving in?

Mick once said that if he was just in it for the money, he'd make the most money doing solo shows in long residencies in Las Vegas. Year round at the Colosseum or some other casino venue.

If you look at the inter-active map of Staples on AXS, you will see that there are still S#!+ loads of seats for the May 20th show. A lot of the rear lowers are going for $450 where on opening night, they all appeared to be $600.

I for one am disappointed with these prices. They do not have a new audience its all us loyals that attend. I would love to take my son but for $450 we can get a new TV in man cave. I will be reading the reviews I believe this year. Thanks for the memories.

On those interactive maps it really looks like everything above $250 is going to take a long time to sell, if it sells at all. The Stones might make their money for every show, but the promoter is going to take a bath, at this rate.

I can easily see a second wave of fan seats released. It is funny to say that... As if those shelling out $1200 for TWO FRIGGIN TICKETS are not fans. They are, they are just much more wealthy than the rest of us. I have friends, here and in daily life, who are shelling out that cash, and they are pained to do so. As in, it just does not feel right.

I am curious what the other venues look like. Ticketmaster doesn't offer the interactive map view for Stones concerts, or most any concert for that matter.
