I guess I'll chime in. My younger sister likes Gaga a lot. I don't know if she has seen this performance yet. BUT having seen her stuff via my sister and heard her stuff I can say it reminds me of Madonna 30 years ago. Yes she can write songs, yes she can play piano, and yes she might even be able to dance. But that doesn't neccesarily mean that she has staying power. She has relied on her image and outlandish behavior to make up for the lack of actual pure sounding music. Instead we get computer enhanced vocals and a tour in which there has to be an instrumental between each song so she can come out in a different costume.
As for her performance, it looked like every other female guest star the Stones have had: they flirt with Mick, get a little provocative and BAM its over. Seen it before, nothing to see again.

If you think Lady Gaga's clothes were disrespectful to the song, then Mick Jagger has disrespected the music of The Rolling Stones many times.

Re: Lady Gaga

Ga Ga was amazingly well, imo. Playful, fun to watch and musically very, very much better than I thought she'd be thumbs up

and musically that scat improvisation faux-exhausted-James-Brown thing she
did at the end was wonderful. musically at the end she did something with
the song that was both appropriate and had never been done before.

somebody here said that all the ppv vids had been removed from youtube

but gaga herself has tweeted the address of hers in HD

Agree! Mick was shivering a bit, because he didn't quite know what to do with it. But eventually, they did a great ending.

I couldn't watch the PPV, but indeed the HD-version is online on youtube.
I am not familiar with the works of Lady Gaga, but she got me rocking quite fine with
this performance. So did the rest of the band.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

I don't get how clothes can be disrespectful to a song. If what Lady Gaga was wearing was disrespectful, then what type of clothes would be considered respectful for that song?

How about this?

Why can you still hear her singing when the mic is nowhere near her mouth?

Is that actually Lisa singing?

It appears that I am in the minority here. Agree to disagree I guess.

I will probably watch the video at some point today and see if I get a new perspective.

I agree with you, you made great points.

Not only did she not add to the song, she detracted from it... but if that is what people want, if they want spectacle over music, then I suppose we will be getting more it.... Maybe The Stones could start wearing high heels too, maybe paint on masks up, wear meat dresses, maybe spew some blood... heck they could call themselves KISS II... or maybe if people want that crap they can go to a KISS concert..

Gaga has tweeted: "When Ron Wood gave me his pick and said I really love that song
about your Hair, is that not every girls dream? Get me my AquaNet"

(Its funny Ronnie loves this song because for me this track is everything I
dislike about her music in one condensed package. Simpleton beats, kitchen
sink arrangement, and really dumb lyrics.)

from one of the gaga fan forums. they didnt capture mick's likeness very well,
but on the other hand they did make him look 30 years old...

this from the same gaga forum. at least they have a sense of humor:

this also from her fan site, very funny...

I put on the Rolling Stones performance for my parents and my dad said "she's got a big ass, I never noticed that before"

lastly, her hair was actually fiber optic for the PPV, but it got washed out
by the stage lights

maybe i am too conservative but i keep on prefering Lisa on Gimme Shelter.
i was expecting a little hotter and sexy performance, but honestly i found her a little "disturbing" .

I thought she was fine, and a lot more interesting than Bruce, Beck, Clapton

Re: Lady Gaga

when Gaga did the duet with Tony Bennett, she really had no choice but to go
completely retro, looking and moving and singing just like a 1950's
white female jazz singer...

so i figured she's have no choice with the Stones but to do a compete homage
to Merry Clayton, leather fringe and all...

but I am so glad that instead she and jagger cooked up the Judy Jetson on acid,
Invaders-from-Mars thing. Now Mick can do virtually anything he wants with the
visuals for the shows for 2013, while keith and mick taylor hold down the fort
musically.

I really dislike her music, but after all she is just a somewhat smart businesswoman. She has talent but doesn't use it to make good music, she uses it to create a spectacle with her bizarre outfits etc and knows that that will sell more records than actual music these days! And it's not a new concept, did Kiss for example sell records because of good music?

So you're all done with Rihanna and now you're lurking on Lady Gaga fan forums with a bunch of little girls? How old are you anyway?

Mick seemed a little cautious around Ga Ga's pointy finger. Anyone catch that, or am I seeing things?
