Nope. Nothing confirmed on that front - the shows arent even 'official' yet after all. Agree with your 'test run' theory, however.
Now, just to add a bit of intrigue, within the last hour or two Mick Taylor's site has confirmed two shows in late November. A show in Aviles, Spain on November 24 and (perhaps more significantly) one at London's Cadogan Hall on November 30th.

And the intrigue is? The Cadogan show has been confirmed for a long time - I've had my ticket for over three weeks!

Last Friday the local radio station here in North Carolina also reported Stones will be playing in New York and London later this year. I suspect the report was only based on what Billboard had already mentioned. I didn't bother making a posting because no mention of dates but more importantly it would be come from the Stones themselves or their site to make any such announcement.
I even doubt a New York radio station would break the news before the Stones.
Not perhaps - they do for sure and now even more so, I'll bet.
