One strange thing : Been "working" on a project concerning the different runningtimes of the Beggars Banquet album, - and have realised that
"Jigsaw Puzzle" seems to be the ONLY track that was never released outside the BB-album ! - ?
- not on singles, - not on compilations- anywhere in the world - vinyl or CD - not on anything - but
"Beggars Banquet" - All the other songs have releases elsewhere . . . .
- so if anyone knows of a release of "Jigsaw" - outside BB - Please post !

Interesting. No knowledge of any non-BEGGARS BANQUET appearances of "Jig-Saw Puzzle". Which makes me to ask - in where has "Dear Doctor" appeared outside the album? All the others I can quickly remember, but not that one (with "Puzzle").

"Trouble is, I couldn't keep him in guitar long enough".
Bullshit. Keith, you couldn't control that guy's contribution any way. Boss Taylor or Ronnie as much you want to, but Brian was not under your command. Once you were.

Mexican EP, 1969, - with Honky Tonk, Sad Day & No Expectations.
German Decca compilation "Portraits" 1981
UK - Decca/Readers Digest compilation-box "The Great Years" 1982
- all holds "Dear Doctor" - but absolutely one of the rare !

Not happy to quote myself, - but I was to hasty just to mention three sources
outside BB for "Dear Doctor" - but that was just what I could think of.
It has been released on several regional compilations, - Italy - Japan a.o. -
but had of course one worldwide release on "Slow Rollers" . . .
so not rare !
Different with "Salt Of The Earth" - which apparently only has two releases
outside the BB . . on ABKCO Promo-CD "Desert Island Survival Kit" 1994 &
"GRRR"-DeLuxe Box, . . .
and then "Jig-Saw Puzzle" which seems to be exclusive on BB - ! ?

Okay! Thanks for clearing this out. I thought the 'outside of original album appearance' had a bit lighter criterion, including also released live versions of the tracks (such as ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS of "Salt of the Earth" - though only 'live' by vocals).
Yeah, of those "Dear Doctor" releases, only SLOW ROLLERS rings some bells to me..
Does your project include not only BEGGARS BANQUET but some other Stones albums as well?

Great song, but they can't do this in front of 50.000 people most of whom wouldn't even recognise Wild Horses.

Talk about a bassline! This is definitely one of Bill's all time standout tracks imo.
He keeps it moving and uses the upper register with great taste and slinkiness.
Here's the 'live' tablature on songsterr, for you bass players who haven't already had the pleasure.

Thanks m8. Couldn't find that when I searched!

always loved the verse where he describes the band itself.

Hello all!
I have never really started a track talk thread, so if you would bare with me, that'd be nice. I love Jigsaw Puzzle. Everyone seems to have their own interpretation of the lyrics. I would like to hear your thoughts.

It really is a great song!
Interpretation? I assume it's supposed to be the author's point of view, surrounded by misfits and whatnot, and trying to piece it all together.
... and in a hurry too, as if it rains anymore, they will all go inside.
