Given that Keith's book is the new news in Stones news, multiple threads seem logical.

You gotta admit though, for an eagerly anticipated book its a load of crap publicity and makes the Stones look a joke in public

That's if you read it through the daily mail glasses and believe the tripe they say.
obviously that Connolly hasn't even read the whole book yet.

"What’s more, it’s rumoured that when the book is published tomorrow, other jokey sneers and insults will be revealed.

...and oh, yeah - Ray Connlly is trying to sell a book also^^ yuck

Ray Connolly’s latest novel about rock music, The Sandman, is available from rayconnolly.co.uk

who needs instructions of how to read a book by this attention grabbing twätt who hasn't read it himself?

"But the chances of them ever touring or recording together again have to be nil."

now this quote will hopefully be proven wrong pretty soon.

A friend of mine has been reading an advance copy of LIFE and this was his response to the poster who began this thread:

"Having nearly finished "Life", and not wanting to play the role of spoiler, it feels to me like the guy who wrote this read a different book. Many more times than he makes any snarky comments about Mick, Keith gives him credit over and over... for his role as a creative force in the band, as well as being the guy who kept the corporation intact and thriving when Keith was choosing to be a junkie. He admits to not caring in the early days of Mick's attending to the financial empire, when Mick came to him to try to explain what their options were. Indeed, if there is a sub-theme to the book, it's Keith's poignant and sometimes very emotional feelings of loss and regret about having grown apart from his best mate. Mick may indeed take it an entirely different way. My reading and interpretation is from a galaxy away, obviously."

There ya go. I bet many actual readers will come to a similar conclusion. thumbs up

People around you must be really-really impressed.
just the one problem, 'though: that's not "judging", what you're describing...
That is: "being judgemental".

But just carry on,'Washed'; as you please.

Thats my point. Many many people do read the tabloids. I think its very poor publicity that the main point of interest pre keiths book is snorting ur dads ashes and a bloke penis....

Jagger knows that, like Ronnie's book, it's mostly fiction.

And none of this will affect whether they tour and whether I'll see them. I'm more worried about Keith's nodes and Charlie's age than I am about this. Remember 1988? Oh my, the Stones will never reunite. Keith has said such tarty things about Mick and even written snide songs on his solo album. Please. I can already see Richards and Jagger, together, on the cover of Rolling Stone next summer, poised to launch their 50th Anniversary tour.

My point is that no matter how good(I hope it is) Keith's book could be, the damage from the publicity is obvious - Mick Jagger was put down to a joke, all over the Internet and the press. GARDIAN. INDEPENDENT AND TELEGRAPH are not tabloids and they can't help but joke about "the diminutive size of Mick Jagger's manhood"(that's from today's Telegraph)
So, I guess it's only logical for us fans to speculate how could Jagger react to such a ridicule of himself. But I can't like others to pretend that nothing happened.
maybe I'm minority here, but minorities also have the right to express their oppinion

And why so many threads about the book?

And what would you rather discuss? Maybe you could start the 100th thread about Keef's guitars, Taylor vs. Brian or What are you listening to?
This stuff is drama, and if it was all just about the music, there probably wouldn't be a message board in the first place. SO get a grip. SOme of us are annoyed with Keef for being petty. Why is that hard to get? The Stones are not above criticism. You don't have to read these threads.

So there is a quota? I've been logged on for a few weeks and have mainly entered the Stones women threads, which have proven to be far more enlightening BTW... with an Fender amp or Hollies thread thrown in for good measure. What's your point? Does discussing Jagger have such a demoralizing effect on your delicate Stones sensibilities? Damn, they call Mick a prima donna, Its really Keef and the cult he seems to lord over. You guys act like 14-year olds, like Keef. As for bringing up Jagger's hair chest, manhood, sexuality....that would be Keef, mate. It seems your guy is obsessed.

Ladies, and that would be Open-G and NorthernAle1,
get a grip. Connelly is providing his theories on the complexities of The Glimmer Twins and trying find the root of Keef's bitterness. The same thing that many of us are doing. If you'd rather just talk about banalities, fine. But this is an insightful article and he's not claiming to know the truth. Face it girls, Keef is revealing himself to be a diva of epic proportions, deal with it. Just don't criticize other Stones fans for joining the discussion. I think people are rather shocked that Keef is as juvenile as he is, I suspected as much a long time ago.

My take is Keith is bitter over his lack of productivity since about 1978, and is displacing the blame on Jagger. If Keith would not have crapped out Jagger may not have wanted to go solo.

he should be posting on a board like this not for a newspaper. we could all have a good laugh and maybe some serious discussions - but no, he gets payed for that tripe.

btw, The New York Times gets it:

>>But while this book’s passages about Mr. Jagger have made lots of headlines, especially in England, they are not all that different from the volleys of accusations the two have exchanged over the years, and Mr. Richards adds that deep down he and Mr. Jagger remain brothers. <<
