True it's excerpts and not the whole book (thank God if the rest of the content is as puerile and hackneyed as today's dose) but it's put out there with Keith's permission for money. I have been a huge fan of his but I am bound to say this is totally uncool, lacking in class and reflects badly only on him. And they say it's Jagger who thinks only of money!

You don't understand how context makes any difference? Say a paper reviews a film and says "it's amazing to think that a film could be this bad!" and then the makers of the film take the words "it's amazing...." for their poster. Context means everything! Without context alot of what we say would just be random combinations of words and phrases. Have you actually read the Times extracts or are you just going on some tabloids copy and paste job?

See, the tabloids such as the Daily Mail (who seem to have a thing for the Stones) print the sensationalized version of events and usually go wight the negative. People love to have someone to complain about so the Mail puts all the negative quotes in the paper and on their site so the morons can go on and bash Mick for having a small cock, bash Keith for being a bad friend or bash the Stones for being above the age of 60 and for being, and I'm quoting from a comment on the Mails site, "to music what creationism is to science" The person who posted that clearly hasn't evolved from the ape stage but that's not the point.

People love to have someone to complain about and who better than someone as famous as a Rolling Stone? The tabloids provide this, explaining why Ronnie was always in the papers. Don't let 'em hook you in!

Yes, to me, there's world of difference between reading the actual words, the lengthy excerpt appearing in the Times, with more to come than in reading all of the quotes bracketed by commentary of the reporter or just the breif excerpts selected for inclusion under various headings.

Context does matter. I think Keith's control of where the book goes once advanced copies is fairly minimal, except for the direct serialization, where there's a choice, I think.

Trouble is, this penis story has gone global - its not about 'boys will be boys' etc. He has made Mickinto a laughing stock, his reputation and ego has been severely bashed, as well as Keiths own integrity.

I hope this doesn't lead to another big bust up between the two. I would feel rather remorsefull and foolish if i were KR - his flipancy has caused a lot of unnecessary trouble.

Even if he were only " average", who gives a F***??? Do you think that most women would toss Mick out of the sack?? NO! At 67, he is still one of the sexiest men on the planet and that really pisses Keith off, and it always has.
I read exerpts from Keith's book in Rolling Stone last night and Keith claims that Mick never liked any of his friends and claims that it's because Mick is possessive!! What a twisted take on reality that is! Mick never approved of Keith's friends because most of them were creeps and stoned losers! In the 70's, Keith's friends were pushers and suppliers and hanger-ons that jeopardized the safety of the band so Mick, being usually sane and practical, was not pleased at the potential threat to their security. Keith will never own up to the fact that Mick saved his sorry ass dozens of times! Mick should write his bio, just to show what life was REALLY like on the road with Keith. I know Keith is owning up to some of it but in a way, he is glamorizing a trashy lifestyle, calling himself a PIRATE! Pirate my ass! More like delinquent!

Many women over the years have made oblique comments about Mick not living up to their expectations in bed. I always thought: who could live up to "being Mick Jagger" in bed? - but it may also be polite reference to his not being among the guys who're fortunate to be very well-constructed (in the way that Keith is, for example, beer gut or not).

We'll have to read the book, but I'm guessing that it always bothered Keith that Mick was such a sex symbol. Why? That's the weird question. Why the @#$%& would Keith be jealous of Mick? The human tragedy of this story may be that even one of the very coolest human beings on the planet--Keith--may be besieged by petty insecurity about himself. Keith has become far more popular than Mick over the years...but at least what we're hearing here isn't becoming to him at all, and really does make Mick look like the gracious one.

I've always thought this was obvious. Not only in the way he has abused himself and lashes out at others but watch when he is interviewed or in just about any recording footage.

He is very very insecure even in his old age.
