It is truly amazing that after all these years The Rolling Stones can still tour stadiums! It will be 2019, 50 years past the iconic 1969 tour! I hope the rumored date of June 17 is true for MetLife Stadium. That will be 40 years to the day from my first Stones show, June 17, 1978! Unbelievable

How to pick? That's one song that's almost always great. I'm partial to Ya Ya's as it's the one that hit me first. Tokyo 1990 is very good. As for more recent ones, Havana Moon is very good. there's just too many.....

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteRedhotcarpet QuoteDoxa QuoteGasLightStreet It started, obviously, in 1989 with SFTD because Mick wanted them to sound like the records. Here's Keith with that as well: Over the years, you develop a simplified road version of a song that you get used to. But this time, we thought, Let's go back and listen very carefully to the records to find what we were orig

QuoteBungo I was watching the Sweet Summer Sun / Hyde Park show the other day and it struck me how retarded a song like Sympathy For The Devil has become over the years compared to the amazing versions heard on Get Yer Ya Yas Out. Why don't they just play it like that? 2 guitars, drums and bass. And the guitar lines they play in these current versions are just childish and un-musical compare

Quotejpasc95 Quoterollmops Ronnie does a badass tremolo job on YCAGWYW; I bet you Ronnie burned down his guitar pick of that solo. The smell of the plastic burning against the strings is a fine moment when one rockandrolls a solo that way. Fantastic job Woody. Rockandroll, Mops Yes totally agree It's not that easy to play a solo on 2 chords. This one was played in Paris on the 7th of Jun

QuoteTheflyingDutchman Quotepowerage78 Nothing is better than GYYYOUT ! The only significant difference between Ya ya's and LyL is the lead guitarist, and Billy Preston of course. I somewhat disagree with that. To me it was a very different sound. The guitars were much more distorted and raunchy, and Mick's vocal style had changed quite a bit. It seemed a bit looser and sloppier

As we all say, judgments are hard from a little video device but the clips I've watched sound really good. The band sounds tight and even the numbers they haven't done in ages sound good. When was the last time they did Shattered? I realize they're playing to an older crowd these days but the audience is what bugs me in these clips. The Rolling Freaking Stones are playing right in

Just checked out a video of Neighbours. Gotta admit I was almost afraid to, having remembered how ferocious it was in 1981. But wow, I was quite impressed. They really rocked it. Not as frantic as 1981 but still pretty hot and lot of good guitar from Keith and Ronnie. They seem to be in better shape than on the first leg of this tour! Still capable of surprising us a bit!

Quotelem motlow I hate gauging a show by you tube but those videos show a band playing really well. And guys, can we please stop attacking the crowd for being “lame” and “unenthusiastic “ they have no obligation whatsoever. They paid their money and can sit quietly and listen, scream and yell or whatever they want, they’re not the ones performing. Agree it's hard to judge well by YouTube vid

QuoteHomerSimpson QuoteHonkeyTonkFlash Funny how clueless even we diehards can be sometimes. When Miss You came out, even though it became a big hit, I thought of it as a rather atypical novelty for the Stones. I actually thought after the 1978 tour they might forget about it. Silly me! I've always loved the way Miss You was played on the 78 tour. I wish they would/could go back to playi

Just a thought - It would be something if a 2019 US tour were billed as their last, as it would the 50th anniversary of the legendary 1969 tour. I don't think the Stones would want to bill it that way though.

Quotemosthigh If you made minimum wage in the US in 1969, it was $1.30 an hour. Now its roughly $10 - $11 an hour. In '69 you had to work about 6.5 hours to afford a top tier ticket. ($8.50) Now, Lucky Dips aside, it would be at least 10 hours of wages to afford even a nosebleed, never mind Gold Pits and the like. It's never been just about the workingman, and many/most of them

Why do we even have a rehearsal thread at this point? It was fun back when people used to be able to congregate outside and hear what they were trying out different. Apparently no one gets that close anymore.

QuoteKevinLocksPerm I personally live in the second decade of the 21st century. Where do you live? Do you live in the modern age or do you live in 1969 or 1972? When did the clock stop ticking for you? I did go on holiday to 1971 once but it was only a holiday. I did come back. Very hard to answer. I tend to accept living in 2018, but as relates to my Stones fandom, I frequently teleport

QuoteSomeGuy I think every album from Steel Wheels on is too long. As such, I find A Bigger Bang to be a rather enjoyable album, I play it probably more often than any of the late 60s & early 70s ones (but that's for another reason, somehow I dont play highlights that often because theyre too special, sort of). Coming from Bridges To Babylon (a most deplorable album), A Bigger Bang is

I don't know if it's fair to say Ronnie "lost his chops." He's played very well with the Stones, although sometimes better or worse...I think it's more accurate to say his style changed when he joined the Stones. Maybe he felt his Faces style was not what was warranted, but who knows? On the 1975 tour there were some glimpses of his Faces style, but he quickly evolve
