Maybe this was already posted somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I just discovered this clip on YouTube, where the Stones are having a laugh, faking lip-synching Cher and Sonny's hit "I got you babe". They're more talented in music than in comedy, but still it is kind of funny:

Seeing and listening to the clips from Glastonbury and Hyde Park, I can only say they are doing a great job. There's still no band that can compete with them. And I am glad to say that they even still sound sloppy enough, although of course on the scale they are playing, a bit of organization is inevitable. A band is a collection of people joining to create their overall sound. You deal wi

The fact that the original subject (GHS as part of a "big 5" ) has gotten snowed under by a discussion on Let It Bleed, says it all: GHS is good but doesn't hold a candle compared to the previous 4 (or 5 if you include Get Yer Ya Ya's Out). What surprises me is that the general consensus here seems to be that Let It Bleed is the "odd one out". For me, the weaker

I don't understand why the Stones get blamed for "treating Bill badly". Bill quit. Ages ago. Since then, whenever asked about the Stones, he went on and on about how he wrote Jumping Jack Flash, wasn't paid enough, slept with more girls than Jagger, that the Stones are not innovative anymore and that he always saw right through Keith and Mick's devious games. I like the w

What a beautiful song that is. Every single aspect of it is perfect. And it must be one of the most beautiful vocal melodies the Stones ever came up with.

Quotestraycatblues73 the Hand of Fate riff is a hoot to play , it sounds great! Then I am guessing you like the riff from "Sad Sad Sad", "I Go Wild", "Must Be Hell", "Highwire" and about a dozen more just as much

QuoteDandelionPowderman The thing with Melody is that it is so similar to this one: Wow! Yes, you are right. Then again, this one doesn't have Mick Jagger on it, so it still can't hold a candle to Melody.

QuoteDandelionPowderman First and foremost HN is a rock track, but with a funky rhythm, and also with a caribbean twist. With that kind of punch (listen to the drums and the hard-rocking groove!). I agree that Hand Of Fate might seem a little Stones-by-numbers. However, a different lead guitarist, fantastic vocals AND the bridge makes the song more than that, imo. I am listening to HN right

QuoteDandelionPowderman "Hey Negrita" -> Another average attempt at funk/disco" This is incorrect musically Oh well, anything dance-able I tend to call funk/disco, which I admit is probably not completely correct. "Another average attempt at a 'dance-track'", does that sound better to you? QuoteDandelionPowderman "Hand of Fate" -> A si

"Hot Stuff" -> An average attempt at funk/disco. A bit tedious. "Hand of Fate" -> A simple auto-paradoy of a rocker, with the standard Keith open tuning riff. Still, nice to hear. "Cherry Oh Baby" -> A terrible, terrible, terrible attempt at reggae. As a matter of fact, one genre the Stones consistently don't do very well is reggae. "Memory Mo

The Rolling Stones is dance music, it's rock and roll with a groove, it's sexual and dirty and at their best, they sound like they just made it up while they're going. Led Zeppelin are only technically superior musicians but with no groove at all. Besides, I never liked songs about wizards and elves.

Personally I don't have anything against the Beatles. They were innovators in lots of ways, and one of the best pop bands ever. But this glorification of Lennon has always mistified me. He was talented, but the real big talent was clearly McCartney (Yesterday, Hey Jude, Let it Be). That's okay as is, but clearly Lennon was jealous of that and felt the need to put McCartney down. Same as

Quotefleabitmonkey Matxil didn't mean to offend you, this is just a piece from a radio comedy show. For you to spin this into I condone hitting women is Laughable. I also find it funny that you consider Yoko's screeching singing. I didn't mean to offend you either. Only the guy on that show. I didn't think it was funny. But then a sense of humour is a personal thing, right?

Quote fleabitmonkey [] Yeah, that's really funny, say "@#$%&" repeatedly, pretending he is Al Pacino from Scarface or something. So this guy doesn't like Yoko Ono singing and apparantly that is good enough reason for wanting John to hit her? My my, women hitting is so cool indeed. The only thing I find funny is the idea of John Lennon playing the guitar next to Chuck

QuoteMax'sKansasCity As I scratch my head, again, and wonder why people who feel The Stones have done nothing worth while musically for over 30 years still bother to post 1000s and 1000s of words basically whining about how they feel The Stones have done nothing worthwhile musically in over 30 years. If/when I like a band..... and they go south (in my opinion), and many have, I am done wi

People who think Doom and Gloom is on the same level as anything from Beggers Banquet up to Exile..., well, they are lucky I guess, because they can expect a lot more where that came from. They don't need even have to wait for the next Stones album. Just tune a guitar in open G, hit all strings and after each alternating beat but a finger on the second string and hit again, repeat this proce

I would say the last outstanding, great song of the Stones is Start Me Up. It certainly is not my favourite and it never really works live, but it's the last time they really made a song that is both typical Stones and - somehow - rises above the obvious. Any of their songs after SMU could have been done by bands like Black Crows, Aerosmithm, etc..., but SMU is both basic rock n roll but wit

A band that sounds very much like the Stones are Los Ratos Paranoicos. I think they are from Argentina or Chile. The biggest difference is that the songs are in Spanish, and so the vocals sound very different, but the guitars are clearly based on the Rolling Stones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3684MUIipE <embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="4

I understand all the criticisms of the song (the 80's production, the drums), but I love One Hit. I love the intro, I love the break, the acoustic guitar, the smashing electric guitars, Jagger's voice, the lyrics, I even love the drums. The version on the album is better than the single version: the break (with only the acoustic guitar) and the re-intro after that are longer and have m

Dirty Work is a terrible album. It is actually the first album since Her Satanic that contains songs that are genuinely embarrassing ("Don't Hold Back" and "Back To Zero" ). I don't know what they were thinking when they made those. Probably they were not thinking at all. However, even on their worst albums they often manage to have a few good songs: "One Hit&qu

Quotesjs12 In defence of Keith, I've done exactly the same thing at a gig before. I remember plaing an intro in G to what should have been in A and then looking around the rest of the band and thinking WTF, why are they all playing in the wrong key! I then realised it was me and quickly adjusted. We all had a laugh about it afterwards and I had to take a few good humoured jibes afterwar

Ha, that reminds me, I used to play in a band where I was the only one with a tuning device. For a particular song, we all tuned our instruments one note down and the bass player asked me to do it for him too. However, I somehow forgot to tune the 3th string along with the rest. It's a pity that our style wasn't avant-garde enough to mask the mistake.
