I remember a review from 72: Unlike their last albums there are only very few good songs on Exile. At best they could have done a single album. From first hearings there may be some truth to this. Particularly as Exile was so different to other big albums of that time. Much Prog Rock - Yes, Genesis, ELP,-D. Purple and Bowie, etc.
I liked the album from the start. But, - some tracks needed their time.
Great songs to me are: Rocks off Tumblin dice Sweet Virginia Let it Loose All down the line and Shine a light
Others- some took time: Casino Boogie, SB Angel,Happy,Turd and always liked the Wanne see his face jam. Its surprising how many name Casino Boogie which in the beginning was a kind of filler to me.But then I grew to love it.
It's hard for me because I like them all. Just like with Like Sticky Fingers, I don't think there are any weak songs on Exile. However, these are the ones I never skip:
Rocks Off Tumbling Dice Torn and Frayed Loving Cup Happy Let It Loose All Down the Line Stop Breaking Down
Thanks for all the answers until now. But beware: I'll count only the songs present in a list of 5, so those who couldn't resist to put more than 5 in their list aren't included in the final outcome. So please adapt your list to 5 songs or accept that your list doesn't count for the final score. I understand it's hard to choose, but that's life!
