Quotekeefriffhards QuoteJN99 As has been said and is entirely accurate, being there is different from watching videos. There's really no arguing that. That said, there's plenty to tell about a performance from videos and watching the ones from this show just make me sad. Again I will say, Charlie is missed. Keith, the reason I am a Stones fan, play guitar, and am in a band myself

Enjoying the videos thus far, great to see them in action again. Seems like they haven't lost much since '22 (especially knowing that it always takes them a couple of shows to really nail things). Just one Keith song is a surprise, I thought Tell Me Straight would be a lock. Angry indeed didn't work vocally, will be curious to see what they're gonna do about that.

QuoteThe98Dude You are 100 pct right. It's been Mick's band for ages and Hackney Diamonds is 70% Mick (or more). Saw them 17 times since 1976 and I am sad to see - and hear - that Keith has become very erratic on guitar since 2014 (arthritic fingers). Sometimes I even wonder if someone (Chuck keyboards?) / something (tapes?) is backing his guitar in the wings as he seems more interes

Fantastic that we find ourselves once more on the eve of another tour. I was at the last regular show in Berlin. Won't be making it to any of the shows this go-around, but wish everyone attending a heck of a time. These days won't last forever.

Not surprised those rehearsal IEM recordings were taken down. Got to listen to them once last night. The band sounded really good!

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotejackflash27 Listening to Live at Racket for the first time. I resisted the CD and all online versions. I must say, I'm quite impressed. For multiple reasons: 1) Sound quality of the vinyl is really good. Nice separation of the stereo channels, all instruments are on a good level in the mix. Sounds really fresh and energetic. 2) The songs really come alive on th

Great to see Bruce look healthier. The increased variation from show to show is very welcome. Judging by these first few shows, this feels like a return to for me (was not a fan of the 2023 shows).

QuoteIdorh My wife passed away last Sunday after a 9-hour surgery due to constricted blood vessels. I don't want anyone around me right now, and I am intensely enjoying the album Hackney Diamonds. The album exudes emotion and energy. It soothes my grief. I'm so sorry to hear that. My sincere condolences.

QuoteBig AlWell, as I have said before, here in the U.K., it does very much seem as if the Stones have undergone a definite renaissance in popularity. That, in my opinion, is the reasoning for their seeming rise in popularity and greatly-improved album-sales. It really does seem that there has been a change in the air, regarding how they’re perceived. Take the New Musical Express. (NME) from the

QuoteRedhotcarpet The outro of this version of Tumblin Dice is their greatest since 1981 or 1975. Edit: possibly since 1973. Matt channeling Nicky Hopkins and Chantelle Haynes is p e r f e c t.b Yeah, this is the track I keep returning to from this set. When the TD outro is performed well it's truly transcendental, and this is one of those instances. They stumble into it, but after that it

QuoteGasLightStreet That's been a consistent piss me off forever. That live version is so much better than what's on GYYYO, the studio version and anything live since - superior Rolling Stones, the ultimate Stones in that particular performance period. Here I was listening to the Racket release thinking JJF was cooking quite nicely, and then you post this. Makes me miss Charlie more

QuotePaintMonkeyManBlack I think matts piano playing is much more suiting than chucks. Jumped out at me too on Tumbling Dice. Much more tasteful work in the outro than the Vegas revue version Chuck tends to turn it into.

Upon first listen, this was the only true dud to me on the record. The verses are okay, but the chorus is just so dull (in general, I gotta say the choruses are lacking a bit on this record). It's badly sequenced too, after another uptempo track with more energy.

Very happy with the album, it absolutely surpassed my expectations. Of course the reviews stating it's on par with their best material are full of it, but it's an excellent effort nevertheless. Yeah, I'd like the production to be a bit rawer, and yeah, I'd like the songwriting to be a bit less poppy. But damn, these are 80-year olds still genuinely laying it down. When that ve

Just listened to the entire record for the first time. Man, once the verse kicked in on this one I was sold. Fantastic riff. The chorus seemed kind of weak though. But then that sax solo... Gonna listen to this one again now.

Wasn't really feeling this that much upon first listen (mainly due to the chorus) until it got to the "Do you wanna hear it" part. That's really funky and saves the track. Listening to it for the second time now and I'm already feeling it more. But imo Live By The Sword is the real killer on this album. What a groove.

This track gave me the biggest smile, along with a bittersweet nostalgia. The groove on this is fantastic and most reminiscent of their classic material. It really picks up after a minute or so, during that first instrumental break, and does not relent after that. How wonderful to have this last track with Bill and Charlie on it.

My initial reaction wasn't very positive but it's grown on me a bit. Regarding the bass: I like that it's loud - my favorite live releases tend to be the ones with Bill way up in the mix - but don't like the overdriven sound. Most of all, I think what Keith is playing on it is just too basic. With all that space in the mix there would have been room for something a bit mor

Quotelem motlow If the Stones are stupid enough to buy into that phony Paul McCartneys bullshit then they should hang it up already. He’s a weirdo just like his fans, they insert themselves into every situation and then take credit for things that were already there. If he actually played on a new Stones song and it became successful he’d take full credit “ oh the boys needed help, and then t
