For those that say John Lennon was a narcissist, have you never seen Mick Jagger on stage before? He wears clothes with the Rolling Stones logo and name on them. If that isn't narcissism, I don't know what is. I can't think of another artist that does something lame like that. Oh wait, yes I can. Keith.

QuoteWinning Ugly VXII Maybe "Let it Rock" this time out ?? I heard a rumor on here a while back that there is some kind of problem now preventing them from performing the Chuck Berry songs live in concert. I can't remember what it was .... royalties, contractual problem, personal dispute with Chuck Berry or his camp. I am not sure. I think that they brought LQ back at the 20

Same thing will happen this year. We'll get reports from the rehearsals of all these non-warhorse songs they're doing, obscure numbers etc.. but when it comes down to the concerts, they'll just be the same as always.

A DVD with just two songs?!? How cute. I wonder how less expensive the package would have been without those two songs.

It's interesting that for almost every date they'll be playing large stadiums but for Toronto, it's a smaller venue. Is it because they've never played Massey Hall before?

QuoteGPerel Thanks bv. What do you think of the dates listed on "The Festival Forecaster" ? That site says "5/27 or 28 or 7/?? Massey Hall, Toronto, ON (TBA day/week of show)?" I would LOVE to see the Stones at Massey Hall but the venue is already booked on May 27 and 28. I guess this site didn't do research before posting dates.

It's a little presumptious to assume that Charlie Watts is my favourite drummer. He's not even in my top 10 5 of my favourites: Pentti "Whitey" Glan Tony Allen Hal Blaine Levon Helm Steve Gadd

This is so ridiculous. If you don't like who's playing then don't go. You can't satisfy everyone 100% of the time.

QuoteOzHeavyThrobber I don't know any K West songs and unlike McCartney the guy seems to be famous for this and that instead of music. For what it's worth, Paul has 21 Grammys and so does Kanye. I normally hate award shows but he's got my respect for his accomplishments. 124 awards in total. He's famous for his music, that's for sure.

QuoteDoomandGloom the protests fueled the mainstream, for the first time the agenda of such conflicts was in question. And the media fueled the protests. The media was a big reason why that war was lost. Previously the government had control over what the media reported back home from warzones. They had carte blanche to censor. But the media were free to report as they saw fit during the Vietnam

QuoteMartinB The problem is that it is impossible to cover the Stones and to sound good (unless you are a pure genius but I cannot think of anyone). It's impossible if you're anal about covers and think a cover song should sound EXAÇTLY like the original, which is absolutely ridiculous. The Stones aren't some magical band that nobody can touch and every cover falls apart. The Ston

QuoteGasLightStreet The Stones certainly don't need the talentlessness of Kanye to help them stick with the times. The problem with 'the times' is three of the biggest changes in music happened in the 1970s and the 1990s with punk, disco and 'grunge' and the Stones seemingly responded by doing some of two of the three but only to a point. I'd say the biggest change

The thing that confuses me is when people get offended and upset and defensive when The Stones are called an "oldies" act. For me, when I think of The Stones today and the past few years, the feeling I get is frustration. I want to see them contributing to the musical landscape like their contemparies are, but they're not. Do they not have the balls for it? Years ago they made an e

Quotedcba QuoteBoognish edit: obviously you don't if you think it's a "silly/funny campfire song". I do know what it means and that's precisely what I hate about the Beatles : using double-entendres to deal with hot topics and at the same time not wanting to face the enemy. When Jagger refers to Angela Davis' imprisonement he sings "Free the sweet black

Quotebillwebster The Rolling Stones were not an "oldies act" when they released their most recent single, "Doom And Gloom". That one sounded very contemporary. Enough said. So why didn't they follow up on that contemporary sound? Where's a new album to show us that they still got it and they still have something relevant to say? Where's their contribution to tod

QuoteMrThompsonWooft Are you really saying that McCartneys songs have not made an impression? While most people believe that Charles Manson was influenced by Blackbird and Helter Skelter, his true rage and philosophical theories are based on the Rolling Stones' jingle for Rice Crispies.

Much respect to Paul McCartney and Neil Young and other "oldies" acts that are still doing new things artistically. The Stones? Not so much. The modern material by these artists might not be their best work but at least they're out there working and having the balls to do so. The Stones, as much as I love them, are stale. They have reached artistic death and unless they prove it to

For me, the most cringe-worthy comment made by Keith was when he criticized Prince for using the name "Prince", saying "Prince has to find out what it means to be a prince. That's the trouble with conferring a title on yourself before you've proved it. He's a prince who thinks he's a king already." Meanwhile, he's completely oblivious to the fact that
