QuoteDandelionPowderman Wasn't the second song Miss You, or did they play three songs? Yes, if memory serves - Salt followed by Miss You. Don't remember them playing Shattered 35love - would have been a been a little inappropriate no?

Quote35love Well, it is 9/11 here in the U.S. today. God bless those directly affected. It's 9/11 in the UK too funnily enough (or 11/9 as we Brits say). Still defies belief that the tragic events of 14 years ago actually happened. As you said, God bless all those directly affected.

Quotetomk QuoteRoll73 Quote71Tele OK, Georgie started playing his trademark slide style around the time of Abbey Road (admittedly he then beat it to death for decades). Can any guitar players here tell me anything about how he developed this particular style (think "My Sweet Lord" and nearly everything after)? I am assuming he used open E for it? Grateful for any insight. Hare Krishna.

1. What the hell happened with the Start Me Up intro at both 2013 Hyde Park gigs? 2. Do you ever miss Brian Jones? 3. If you had to spend the rest of your life on a desert island with only one of the remaining Stones, who would it be?

Surely Keith wouldn't need to go on the show anyway - seems there's more than enough of a PR push for his new record. If he did though, he'd certainly be able to handle himself with Stern wouldn't he? He's had 50 years of learning how to deal with the media after all. Maybe Stern is unusually probing and direct but Keith always seems to give as good as he gets, if not

QuoteHMS A little bit of melody and structure would do no harm. SD sounds more like an unfinished basic track, Mick would rather fall down dead than let Keith put a thing like SD on any Stones-record. It should be reworked, rewritten and re-recorded, maybe then it becomes a song. At least there is a slim chance. I agree HMS - although I think the overall sound and the groove are great so I don&

An intriguing mystery indeed! Definitley not Nico - in my humble opinion anyway. That doesn't really narrow it down though does it? I have to admit I bought the album because of that cover. The contents didn't disappoint of course! Be interested to find out who she is (or quite possibly was)....

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteRockingLonestar I saw the band before and after 1990. 1982 was great, 1990 was great, too, but different. The times they are a-chanching, you know.Yes, they sounded less guitar oriented, but I like the brass section as well as the backup singers.Yes, Flashpoints sounds a bit flat, but Atlantic City (and other bootlegs) sound superb. And I think Atlantic City is definit

QuoteNaturalust I like that they are experimenting with different grooves and different sounds...a foray into world music with tempo changes and an interesting tapestry of sounds. Not my favorite Stones track but a pretty good example of the Stones stretching a bit which is refreshing in and of itself. Way better then them trying to write another Start Me Up and I like the message too...Love com

QuoteRockingLonestar My favourite live Version is from the "Like A Rolling Stone" EP from 1995. Daryl really pushes the band and the song during the finish. Agreed - an awesome version. And the definitive live version of Black Limousine on that EP as well (IMO of course).

Really like this tune - don't think the Stones made a mistake by keeping it as a B-side though.

Sincere apologies if this request has been posted elsewhere. I'm trying to get hold of a download of the 'original' bootleg version of Nearness of you - not sure if this is from the Long View Farm sessions or Voodoo Brew/ Stew. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Quotekeefriffhards When Keith's album comes out, i think people will see the talent that has been wasted in reference to Mick dominating recordings for many years. Keith is the musician after all. To my mind most of the Stones greatest recordings were when Mick let Keith flow with his genius, with Mick adding lyrics and melody's.. That is the Glimmers at their best. But this control t

QuoteThrylan Yeah, not to get off topic, but HCIS is the worst Keith track ever. I don't understand how any Stones fan can find anything to like about it. Really interesting song structure and chord progressions - great soulful playing by everyone, beautiful backing vocals, great vocal delivery from Keith, a gorgeous sax solo by Wayne Shorter no less - and an unusual ending that keeps you

QuoteHMS Every time I hear How Can I Stop I fall asleep halfway through. Always wake up when Wayne Shorter sets in at the end. Horrible I don´t like Jazz and How Can I Stop ends as a jazz tune. And soprano sax is poison to my ears. Ok then - nice one.

QuoteHMS Thru And Thru is too long, has very few ideas and is absolutely boring to my ears. They needlessly stretched a 2-minute song to epic length. The lyrics are forgettable too. But I have to admit that How Can I Stop and Thief In The Night are even more boring and uninspired. I love The Worst but can hardly bear Thru And Thru. Ok - granted that TAT and TITN might not be everyone's

I remember being really excited when VL came out - and as it was pre-social media, as we know it today, the main promo channel was still TV. Loved watching the MTV special with loads of band interviews. Listened to it loads in the Summer of 94 and thought it was truly the Stones back on form, with both Mick and Keith (and Ron for that matter) having recently released really good solo albums an
