Quotemr_dja Quotekeefriffhards Quotemr_dja Quotekeefriffhards I love crosseyed heart so much that when I play it in my car every day and reach my destination I just drve on an extra mile or sit in the car with it on for ten more minutes because its that good That's when you KNOW it's good! I haven't had that experience w/ CH yet - I'm not sure that I've listened to it

QuoteOlly QuoteAquamarine ...To call the premise of the show inherently comical seems to me absurd in itself, it's inherently tragic if anything. I posit differently. Take a general working definition of Shakespearean comedy: ...characterized by its humorous or satirical tone and its depiction of amusing people or incidents, in which the characters ultimately triumph over adversi

Loved it when it came out. Was really exciting to hear so much new material after such a long hiatus (sterling solo efforts from all band members aside!) It feels too derivative to me now (maybe Don Was trying too hard to make them sound 'like' the Stones?) and would certainly have made a better album with less tunes. There's not many Stones songs that I absolutely can't st

QuoteHMS Nothing On Me seems to me as too boring to be released as a single. The next single should be Substantial Damage. Agree - that's more like it.

Imagine how long an equivalent Stones Anthology would be though. It would make Ben Hur seem like an advert.

Nice review. The last couple of times I've gone to see Neil I've always thought - 'Can I really be bothered to sit (or more tiringly) stand through another 25 min version of Down by the River'. But I always end up getting sucked right back in. The clips I've seen of him with this new band look pretty exciting. As you say Naturlust, Neil Young is a treasure.

I had Video Rewind before I had the Undercover album - and before I became a 'proper' Stones fan - so I originally got to know the song through its rather amusing video. I couldn't actually make out whether this was an official 'song' or just some little extra jokey thing that they set to film - maybe because they had a few quid left over from the Undercover of the Ni

Quotemr_dja Quotedandelion1967 Nobody will say "Pet sounds?" All I can say on my own behalf is, "DOH!" Can't believe I left that off my list. Peace, Mr DJA If I only had to pick one album that qualifies it would be Pet Sounds. Pure genius running all the way through it. Revolver a close second but Yellow Submarine can hardly qualify as a masterpiece - can it?

QuoteNaturalust Thanks Captain. That caption of the photo of Keith in Joshua Tree.."toking a substance" , just cracks me up. Who are these writers for Daily Mail? I know. Almost as good as the one of Brian that says it's the last shot of him taken "before his death in 1973" (!!!) Maybe some of the Daily Mail staff were 'toking' a little something themselv

QuoteHis Majesty Exile. As much as I love SG, TY I agree with that. Some post Exile albums might be classic for Stones fans but not for the wider audience. Crosseyed Heart - a classic album? Seriously?

QuoteBoognish After watching this, one thought comes to mind: Can someone please make a documentary about Tom Waits already! Amen to that! I really enjoyed the film - yes, clearly a promo piece for the album but beautifully filmed and there are some lovely moments. Would be great to see a directors cut/ deleted scenes as there must surely be loads of great footage that didn't make t

Quote35love Well, it is 9/11 here in the U.S. today. God bless those directly affected. It's 9/11 in the UK too funnily enough (or 11/9 as we Brits say). Still defies belief that the tragic events of 14 years ago actually happened. As you said, God bless all those directly affected.

Quotetomk QuoteRoll73 Quote71Tele OK, Georgie started playing his trademark slide style around the time of Abbey Road (admittedly he then beat it to death for decades). Can any guitar players here tell me anything about how he developed this particular style (think "My Sweet Lord" and nearly everything after)? I am assuming he used open E for it? Grateful for any insight. Hare Krishna.

1. What the hell happened with the Start Me Up intro at both 2013 Hyde Park gigs? 2. Do you ever miss Brian Jones? 3. If you had to spend the rest of your life on a desert island with only one of the remaining Stones, who would it be?

Surely Keith wouldn't need to go on the show anyway - seems there's more than enough of a PR push for his new record. If he did though, he'd certainly be able to handle himself with Stern wouldn't he? He's had 50 years of learning how to deal with the media after all. Maybe Stern is unusually probing and direct but Keith always seems to give as good as he gets, if not

QuoteHMS A little bit of melody and structure would do no harm. SD sounds more like an unfinished basic track, Mick would rather fall down dead than let Keith put a thing like SD on any Stones-record. It should be reworked, rewritten and re-recorded, maybe then it becomes a song. At least there is a slim chance. I agree HMS - although I think the overall sound and the groove are great so I don&

An intriguing mystery indeed! Definitley not Nico - in my humble opinion anyway. That doesn't really narrow it down though does it? I have to admit I bought the album because of that cover. The contents didn't disappoint of course! Be interested to find out who she is (or quite possibly was)....
