1971 was such a good year for the Stones, both live and in the studio. In a "way", they never got any better. Only in a "way", mind you, don't attack me on that one.

Greetings from Sunny Southern California. First of all, I would get your sight seeing out of the way. Travel from the Sunset Strip down Sunset Boulevard to the Pacific Coast Highway, make a right and ride out to Malibu. Watch a sunset. Go back to Hollywood (I assume you will be staying in Hollywood. I wouldn't advise you to LIVE there, but it's a great place to stay for a short vis

Very well written. In fact, I have never read a better post. The only thing I would like to add is that we should not forget Woody is also suffering a recent loss.

That is not an accurate set list. They did Mona and Down the Road Apiece. KR broke his string at the beginning of Down the Road and Woody and the band had to finish without KR. Bloody shame.

Charlie plays round badge Gretsch, 8x12, 16 tom and 22 bass. Most of the late 60's and seventies he used a 5x14 Ludwig snare, early 80's a 6 1/2x14 Super Sensitive Ludwig snare (great). Voodoo had the 8x14 Pearle wood snare. BTB had the Arnie Lang Gladstone 4x14 snare. Now, it is an 5x14 DW wood snare. Ludwig Atlas snare stand (vintage), Old Rogers "Buck Rogers" snare sta

I have oftened wondered why there has never been a collaboration between Mick and Ray, or, Keith and Ray. Ray Davies is truly a genius, the British Brian Wilson. Then, once, way back, I remember hearing something about an old falling out between the Stones and the Kinks, Ray in particular; however, I never got the full story as to why. Anyway, it just seems odd, as the Stones have, at one poin

Those early Brown Sugar's were great. A good example would be the Leeds, 1971 version, same show as where the Let It Rock for release came from.
