Did he take more than a bite or two? Then he's a dang liar! In his autobiography, you'll recall that Keith went on at some length about how we're conditioned in our eating habits to be good little worker bees and have our three full meals at the appropriate time. He bucks this system by only eating when hungry and only a few bites until satisfied.

QuoteStoneage I don't think The Smiths or Morrissey were ever big in the USA. Neither were britpop. So, basically I don't think americans understand the Morrissey phenomena. There are rock bands who never made the Top 40 charts in the U.S. but still had a passionate following and very significant influence. The Smiths were well known & loved on the American indie scene. Morrissey

Quotehypnohighball This is pretty sad reading the Stern-hater comments here. Sounds like a bunch of grumpy, uptight old men. Oh, that's right........ What's sad was watching Stern and his goons sexually humiliate an older woman who clearly had mental health issues. This was in the late 90s or so. They goaded this poor feeble-minded person into removing her top, then made sophomoric co

Springsteen has too much dignity to appear on that show. Stones are waaaayyy above the odious HS. They should never lower themselves. Mick Jagger is a knight of the realm for heaven's sake.

It's all about Yes. They are massively talented and original and their music is gorgeous and occasionally transcendent. Proof "Awaken."

Quotegagi She's one of the best female guitar players... She's amazing - saw her and her very talented band this past Saturday night. Gah! Cosmic shredding. She did "Rain Fall Down" and a very epic instrumental tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn. I agree that she needs better original songs but hell, you could have said that same about Stevie Ray and Buddy Guy and Jeff Bec

QuoteNICOS Some look even better............... Like who? Surely not. The Wilson sisters look great - Debbie Harry too - but not better. That's just life. EDIT: come to think of it though, a couple of guys have "grown into" their looks and are better looking now than in their ugly duckling youth, IMO: Roger Waters and Roger Hodgson

Brits ruled in the 80s. I still remember the hand-wringing features in Rolling Stone mag asking "what are we (Americans) doing wrong/why are they so much better..."

QuoteBig Al My own favourite from this decade are The Smiths. They were definitely, in my opinion, one of the very finest single and LP’s acts of the decade. They had an ace axe-man in Johnny Marr – someone who created musical landscapes and such colourful instrumental passages – and in Morrissey, a lyricist so out-there and the tailor-made pop-star for the NME-buying public of the 80’s. The Lovin' Spoonful are a pleasure to listen to, but it's a shame the vocals are mixed soooo loooow volume, esp. "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice" - poor Jon Sebastian is almost drowned out!

QuoteUGot2RollmeIn comparison, Jeff Beck's set was dissapointing. Bummer - that's the performance I'm most intrigued to check out. I'm quite surprised he's done a trad Irish ballad "Women of Erin" (don't make me spell it in Gaelic like in the track listing).

QuoteLieB QuoteClaire_M And maybe it's just me, but what about the drum sound on the pre-Hagar Van Halen albums - very hissy, no? I wouldn't say hissy, but the drums on early VH albums were kind of boxy and swampy or whatever. There's less difference between snare, toms and kick compared to most rock drums. It kinda mixes well with Eddie's "brown sound" guitar. Thi

Quote24FPS Every time I recall this album I have to laugh. I like the roots of musics and their connections. According to a documentary on recording this album spawned....are you ready......disco? The theary is that this album was suggested as a project by record producers who made the killing finacialy on it. They sat down to ponder the ingredients of their success and conducted studies. I saw the Brian 'n Jeff show in Hollywood (FL) Friday night. I really love Jeff's jazz fusion stuff, but he didn't play much of that - for fear of alienating the Beach Boys audience one assumes. His instrumental of "Surf's Up" was one of the highlights of the evening for me - chillbump city. He stuck to songs people will know: "A Day in the Life," "Rol

I saw the opening night of the tour in Hollywood, FL 9/27 (Friday) - the only Yardbirds material was a furious "Rollin' and Tumblin'." No "Blow by Blow" or "Truth" songs, contrary to published reports. I love his jazz fusion stuff

QuoteNoCode0680 Christine's songs have never been my thing, though she has a great voice. But I've always thought it was a shame she left. Mainly with this lineup of Fleetwood Mac I like Lindsey's songs and some of Stevie's. Christine's songs, though catchy, just aren't my taste. But her playing and backing vocals were crucial to many songs I do like. She'

I saw "My Dinner with Jimi" last night, a film that Howard Kaylan wrote the screenplay for. It was about The Turtles 1967 trip to London where they met the Beatles and, as the title alludes to, Monsieur Hendrix. One part of the film kind of beggared belief: Brian Jones supposedly approached Howard Kaylan at the Speakeasy and asked for his autograph. He tells Howard he is a big fan o

Same here, except I liked the actors (that Charlie Hunnam sure is purdy). It was the relentless nihilism that wore me down.
