Brian Wilson & Jeff Beck in Las Vegas 10/18. With Blondie Chaplin! Front row! Doing Yardbirds material! hot smiley

I saw the opening night of the tour in Hollywood, FL 9/27 (Friday) - the only Yardbirds material was a furious "Rollin' and Tumblin'." No "Blow by Blow" or "Truth" songs, contrary to published reports. I love his jazz fusion stuff but no dice there either; maybe Jeff was afraid it would send the Beach Boys fans fleeing from the auditorium.

Blondie is in very strong voice. He's an excellent guitar player too, which was news to me. He performed "Sail On Sailor" with the Brian wilson Band, then came back near the end of the show for "Barbara Ann."

Jeff has an amazing electric violinist playing with him named Jessie Ball. She also sings, and did a great version of "How High the Moon" with Jeffrey Foskett and another guy from Brian's band, whose name escapes me at the moment.

One of the highlights for me was hearing Jeff play an instrumental of "Surf's Up." He apparently didn't think he played it well and covered his face with his hands afterward. Al Jardine consoled him. Another highlight was hearing Mr. Wilson sing lead on "Fun, Fun, Fun" "I Get Around" and "God Only Knows." It was a special night.

I just found out that John Primer is going to be at Brackins Blues Club tomorrow night! Tickets $5.00 For Smoky Mountain Blues Society Members, $10.00 for all others (I'm in for $5!).

This is a TINY club where the drummer literally sits in front of a plate glass window that overlooks the street in front of the club. No Backstage. No dressing rooms. The artist/band literally stand in line with the patrons. The only thing generally run through the PA is the vocals. All the drums, guitars, etc. that you hear are literally the sound of the player's instruments as opposed to what some sound man thinks it should sound like. Awesome club with great owner, staff, regulars & "vibe". Well worth a detour if you're ever in the area.

Can y'all tell I'm PUMPED! I saw Primer there a few years ago and he tore it up. Expecting more of the same tomorrow.

Peace,
Mr DJA

John Cleese tonight in Vancouver.

Apparently it's his birthday too, so he should be in fine form.

I don't go to Dylan concerts anymore to see a great Dylan.
It's his band that does it for me.
Fantastic drummer and Charlie Sexton is back (again).

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds!!! - Manchester this Wednesday...can't wait to see this man again, he - gives a hell of a show.

And he's playing Her to Eternity a lot more this time round so reckon there's a good chance I will get to see this live for the first time.

If anyone hasn't seen him, but likes his stuff, I strongly recommend getting yourself to a show.
