A great post Beelboy. The Lovin' Spoonful only had a couple of hits over here in the UK, but my dad had there first couple of LP's. I used to listen to them quite a lot. I don't own a best of, but there’s a good one on Amazon that I'm just about to order. It's like I said, no household should be without one. Your spot on about bands that carry on with little, to no ori

She Was Hot Let Me Go Lies I'd love to hear anything from the late 70's or early 80's era. Anything prior to that and I think we'll be getting a little too complex for the '06 Stones. These punk/rock style numbers can still be dug out to great effect.

Does anyone here like them? They seem to be one of the real "forgotten bands" of the mid-late 60's Californian scene. I think they recorded some wonderful songs and John Sebastian is a truly underrated songwriter. Younger Girl, I Believe In Magic and Summer In The City are all classics in my opinion. No household be without a Best Of The Lovin' Spoonful.

Now that they've played their last show for a couple of months, I think it's time to sit back and reflect on what we've all seen or heard on this tour so far. What does everything think about the overall standards of the set list? What does everything think of the length of the shows? What does everyone think of their performance and how do we feel about their sound? Are they loud

I think they're kind of semi-legal. I think you are right. It's definitely to do with some loophole in the law. Others her will know more, but all I know is that you can purchase The Rolling Stones No 2 over there and you can't here!

Has it occurred to anyone that even if this WERE to be they're last tour, they wouldn’t necessarily announce they're retirement. I firmly believe that there won’t be an official disbandment 'till one of them croaks it.

I really like the Hyde Park rendition. It was the first time they played it live (not counting the Rock 'n' Roll Circus version) and I think they were trying to recreate the feel of the studio take. I think all the dancing guys and drummers really must've made it a carnival atmosphere. It was just perfect for the occasion.

Full to the rafters? It'll be just like last time then! I think the reason it's so popular is the obvsious Stones connectionas it has. Does'nt Art Wood perform there sometimes? I'm just going to see how it goes. What are your pre-show plans?

I'm not sure about floor seating, but if you’re in the stands, I don't think the switch will make ant difference. For instance, if you've got tickets for Upper tier, to the left of the stage, that’s where you'll be situated at Twickenham. They didn’t specify more than that because Wembley was and IS STILL under construction! Twickenham’s a nice place and a nice environment

In fact, 8 of the 10 Beggars numbers have been performed in total. I forgot No Expectations! It was played regularly at the theatre show. So, that’s five Beggars songs performed during the Licks tour. That's half the album. They hardly ignored it, did they?

Oh, for CHRIST'S SAKE! Just where in the article is it stated that Charlie is QUITTING the band and ceasing live performances with them? It's not over and I don't believe, despite how sporadic things in the future may be, that the Rolling Stones party will ever be fully over 'till one of them dies.

If you were take away the four numbers from Beggars that they've performed on and off for the past couple of decades, you'll realise that there isn't really anything else off the album that they could feasibly perform in front of huge crowds. I can imagine Jigsaw Puzzle working, but would be surprised if Mick could even remember it! It's a hidden gem and I don't know, may

Beggars Banquet has never been a favourite of mine, but as far as this tour goes, I do agree with you. Beggars got a fair airing on the Licks tour though. Street Fighting Man and Sympathy For The Devil were regulars in the set, Stray Cat Blues was dug out for the theatre shows and they even performed Salt Of The Earth towards the end of the tour at Twickenham.

So what does this mean? As the article indicates that Charlie ISN'T quitting the Stones or live performances altogether, does this mean that they'll knuckle down and become more of a studio band again and do the odd live show or what? The Stones have been primarily a live band for a long time now. Can they change?
