Compomise: Bjournulf and Stonesdoug are BOTH God! This can work, people. Sort of a Stones version of the Trinity, with Mickkeithcharlieron as the supreme and First aspect of the Almighty, of course! I've met both these guys, I believe, either online or in person, and they both seem pretty decent people. Stonesdoug offered to burn me a concert CD for nothing.

Review from DC: OK all, I was there last night, as I was at FEDEX field in '97 and '02, and MCI for both shows in '99. I have read all the threads, with sympathy, regarding the debates about setlists, etc. It all became academic (too European, just to playfully respond to Baboon Bro below - only kidding) once the Stones took the stage, and I mean TOOK THE STAGE. They were TRE

One time in around 1972 I was at a Frank Zappa concert, and during a lull between songs I yelled 'Hey Frank, your nose is growing!' It appeared he heard it and was momentarily at a loss. In 1979 I got introduced to Britt Ekland. A few minutes later I told a friend, "She looks terrible." I looked and she was standing right next to me. Oops. The hell of it was, she didn&#

Agree with Kahoosier. EOMS is great, but if you were listening to Banquet and Let It Bleed before Sticky Fingers and EOMS came out (like I was), you might be forgiven if you thought the latter two were not as great. Granted, Stickey Fingers and EOMS are classics too, but I always thought EOMS should have been a single LP. I'd have kept Rocks Off, Hip Shake, Sweet Virginia, Tumbling Dice

Yeah, that's actually Honolulu '66, and it's EXCELLENT, both in terms of performance and sound quality. It's actually CHARLIE (yes Charlie) announcing 'The Last Time,' when they had played it, like, two songs earlier. Then Brian (I think it is) starts laughing and says they're going to play 'Lady Jane,' which they do. Other cool aspects of tha

Worst frontman in rock? George W. Bush, without a doubt. And note: I'm NOT a Bush Basher. I just want him to play Get Off My Cloud one time during this tour, you know, as a kind of confession. ... But if not Get Off My Cloud, then how about Turd On The Run?

Time Flash! As a little kid, I was standing on the street in LA in 1964, watching a teenage girl stroll down the sidewalk with a sweater that read 'I Like The Rolling Stones.' It featured their 5 moppy heads under that heading. If she kept that article of clothing in pristine condition, wow, what would that be worth today?

Rockman: You mean it's a Stones Between the Buttons outtake? I heard those Between the Buttons outtakes were just remixes of official releases and were bogus. That's not true? Thanks.

Great and hilarious prediction, Gazza! What? Only a billion dollars from Mick? And why didn't he donate BEFORE the hurricane?! BTW, Start Me Up and Rough Justice sounded great from Detroit on US TV last night ... that is, if you could hear through the fake audience track. ... Which reminds me, shouldn't the Stones cancel their entire tour to personally take part in house to h

OK, my mistake. It's from Oakland, '99, opening night of No Security Tour. Daryl starts playing KR's original bass line. Charlie jumps in quickly, but in effect it's what you're talking about: the opening notes of Live With Me.

Didn't Daryl play more or less the true intro on some club gigs in 2002? I think the Boston club gig boot features Daryl playing Keef's original bass line. I can listen real quick and confirm if anybody gives a rat's arse.

Simultaneously: 1. 'Big Hits (High Tides and Green Grass)' 2. 'Got Live If You Want It!' A perfect introduction to the Rolling Stones, since it permitted me and my bro and sis to hear them at their very best, and their very worst. When I then saw them at Altamont two years later, this pattern was confirmed.

Please, please, PLEASE tell me more about this! Every time I survey the boot web pages, I see that reference to Yesterday's Papers live. I have many Stones boots, including Honolulu '66 (which is AWESOME, by the way). But I confess to craving Yesterday's Papers in concert. Probably you can advise me: what's the best version to request in trade? Also, at least one of

How about Highwire, Sweet Neocon, and Sympathy for the Devil. I read a statement by Mick that the Stones were actually approached in 1972 by the Nixon re-election committee. Mick claimed the Stones agreed to perform at a Nixon campaign event; the only condition: they be permitted to play Sympathy for the Devil. Mick said they never called him back. And BTW, you can bet the image conscious

When they played this at RFK in Washington in '94, the crowd cheered loudly when Mick sang, 'Smells like caviar.' I'm wondering if, a few years from now, everyone's going to decide this is a Stone's classic. Some of their tunes seem to gain acceptance and appreciation with time. Also, I wonder if many of us fans are so focused on Rolling Stones musical tradi

Best Stones cover? Still waiting for someone to cover the Stones well. Worst Stones cover? Who else but .. the Stones themselves. Flowers is the album, 'My Girl' (Temptations) is the cover tune. Listen and see why the Stones considered most of these songs work tracks, NOT album material (Mick, can you please sing a little MORE off key?!). Honorable Mention: 'Emoti

Speaking of which, someone please educate me: On one of the versions of Liver Than You'll Ever Be (Oakland, 1969), the usual very good audience recording which begins with 'Carol' (the classic boot) is preceded by a soundboard version of JJF. It's absolutely excellent, but my question: is that the true opening JJF from that Oakland show? And if so, is there a soundboard o

Get it to Stonesfan?!?!?!?! I've been writing to StonesFan for three weeks begging a password to RockPassion, with no response. I've read StonesFan's replies to other vistors expressing the same concern - he/she states that we must write to him/her 'over and over again'- which I've dutifully done, but it doesn't work. On the topic of She Said Yeah, who is Larry Williams (and aren't there some co-writers of the song as well)? What's the story behind them? Are they an R&B group? I've searched the Net to try to learn more about the original She Said Yeah, and as yet haven't found anything. I'll appreciate being educated, thanks!

That's true and a good point, skillzpetey, but even there, they have stops on R&R for Bonham to rock out on, and none on Keep A Knockin.' It's just hard for me to fathom the claim that Jimmy Page ripped off that song - and there's no way Bonham did!

'69 (Altamont): Jefferson Airplane - OK Santana - had the crowd totally mesmerized; incredible Crosby, Stills Nash and Yoing - played about 4 songs and left Flying Burrito Brothers - uhhhh, yeah ... '72 (Winterland, San Francisco): Stevie Wonder - oustanding, of course '75 (Cow Palace, San Franciso): The Meters - not exciting but definitely funky 89 (Arr

"Rock 'n' Roll" was a direct lift from Little Richard's "Keep A-Knocking." Huh?! I'm a Little Richard fan from way back, but I'm sorry, 'Rock n' Roll' and 'Keep A-Knocking' (which I own and listen to frequently) bear NO resemblance to one another AT ALL. Not only are the melodies different, so are the chord changes! The b

RollingStonesRob: I was at Altamont. We heard exactly what you heard: 1. Meredith Hunter. 2. Two people asleep in sleeping bags run over by a car. 3. A stoned swimmer drowned. Not to mention at least one guy in the afternoon who climbed a major scaffolding, then stood on the top and screamed in triumph while Sam Cutler tried to talk him down. Yes, he did eventually come down (at

I remember Ron Wood's solo from an LA Forum bootleg in the early '70's, and it was tremendous. I've got numerous boots of Mick Taylor's solos on this tune, which are obviously great too, but you're right, Ronnie was fabulous with the Faces.
