Is this a joke ?!

Superbowl halftime show allows 12 or 13 minutes.

I reckon:

Brown Sugar
Rough Justice
JJ Flash
IORR

etc etc...

They could do 4 oldies but they will want to promote new album/sell new album.

P.S. Who gives a @#$%& anyway? Don't think any of us will be there, we will all be seeing the stones over the next year anyway.

Why am I posting this nonsense...??!!

How about : 1) Jumping Jack Flash or Start Me Up
2) She Saw Me Coming or Rough Justice
3) Winning Ugly or Too Tough
4) Brown Sugar or Street Fighting Man

How about Highwire, Sweet Neocon, and Sympathy for the Devil.

I read a statement by Mick that the Stones were actually approached in 1972 by the Nixon re-election committee. Mick claimed the Stones agreed to perform at a Nixon campaign event; the only condition: they be permitted to play Sympathy for the Devil. Mick said they never called him back.

And BTW, you can bet the image conscious NFL won't let the Stones play Brown Sugar, either.

if they are that conscious, there would be few Stones songs allowed

Start Me Up for sure (minus the dead man come line)
maybe Satisfaction, Honky Tonk Women, IORR
and if they do Rough Justice the word "cocks" will be bleeped

Macca Played

Drive My Car
Get Back
Live And Let Die
Hey Jude

The Stones equivalent would be something like

Satisfaction
HTW
IORR
JJF

Of course, when they played SNL in '78 they did three new ones off of Some Girls, so you never know. It depends whether they want to promote the new record or entice new fans to get aquainted through a greatest hits package, and on how much say the NFL bosses have in what they can or cannot do.

Drive My Car is the equivalent to Satisfaction??? DMC is a footnote in the Beatles catalogue.

Yeah, play @#$%&. By the time the censors get done with it, it will sound like an episode of the Osbournes.

This is a useless discussion there will be no suprises. Would be fun if they played Neon Con though?

====when they played SNL in '78 ======

I can't believe after Janet Jackson's tits, that the NFL will have the Stones on. After all that public backlash and they go get the baddest Granddads of Rock and Roll. I think they will pay for it because the Stones will probably try to prove they "still got it" and cause some big stink. Maybe Mick will go lick Ron Woods lips and stubbly cheeks again.

SMU

Satisfaction

Since their Super Bowl set would only last 11 minutes. How about just one song. That won't happen...expect a fast cookie cutter safe set, with MTV kiddies who have no clue who The Rolling Stones are jumoing up and down on the field.

I agree with Jimmie's setlist. They will play at least one song off the new album. and SMU and Satisfaction. I might go with Brown Sugar or JFF tho.

Somehow, the Stones being on the Superbowl halftime seems really lame to me however.

Most, if not All of the time the performances are lame lip-syncing appearances done in medley form. Crap like Britney Spears and Destiny Child. All that crap was just choreography set to tapes.

If THAT is what is planned instead of a live performance, I would rather they not even do the show.
