QuoteMKjan I am a Hendrix fan for sure, saw him perform twice and own all his releases, but this Berry cover is on par with various bar bands I've heard thru the years, and Taylor's soaring solo's...they soar way above this. Nice to have perspective from an apparent connoisseur.

Just want to offer an anecdote to show how MT's music affected a non-musician/non-Taylorite, a gf of mine about 15 years ago...she/we were around 30. This chick was a naturopath healer, Qigong, acupuncture worker...meditation retreats, the works. She listened to chant and drone music mostly. One day she heard me playing a cassette of Sydney or Brussels, SFM...you know, the whirling Dervi

Quoteduffydawg The Rolling Stones with Mick Taylor is "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band Ever." +1 I think guitarists really appreciate MT, for the wonderful lyrical sense he brought to the table. However, we won't see the full potential of what he could bring in 2013, so banking on that wish at the expense of just enjoying the band would be futile. I've said it before: t

Quotebeachbreak I gotta say, after CYHMK when Keith kissed Mick Taylor it brought a tear to my eye. Holy sh1t good call beach...wow...a lip lockin' bro-mance goin' on here.

Quoteduffydawg In fact, I would argue that MT is holding back a bit...trying to play nice in the sandbox with what limited time he has. +1...it started with submissive hunching, now it's evolved into genuflecting. Makes me squeamish to watch. He's best when he's playing his guitar, facing the audience, like he did in LA. Maybe it's a confidence thing, or fear of biting t

Man that's a great hi-res pic... MT wasn't so much locked in this time. Must be challenging to be "dropped in" for one song like that, for him. Charlie kept it together though as good drummers do.

Quotemr_dja I found myself being surprisingly mesmerized by this vid: the "it" factor is coming together, MJ's energy is superhuman, Keith is playing well, Charlie's stamina is simply unbelievable, Daryl Jones morphs into the band...it's an interesting, understated version of the Stones at 70 years old.

I think the article is bull. I've seen MT turn down drinks on stage so he can focus on his playing, then sip a pint after the show. Unless there is some unobserved drug involved, MT would not seem to have a drinking problem.

For me, seeing and hearing that performance of cyhmn put years of wondering to rest. I always felt a little bitter about how MT was dealt, even though he left the band. Hearing him the other night, even expanding on his virtuosity from years ago, gained through hundreds of gigs playing his uncompensated co-written song in beer halls where for $10 a fan like me could say hello...so much was put to

After watching for the 5th time , as MT is leaving stage, at 8:22, MJ is occupied blowing his nose and quickly motions MT to take a bow. Wow!!

man, MT does some great playing before 7:07, but just check out that rapport happening between MJ, KR and MT...the facial expressions, and think back to the incredible sounds these 3 made together in '69, '72, '73, it's such a historic grouping, that really shows its colors in a moment like this. So cool that it's come full circle.

+1 JumpinJack... What's even cooler about this is that MT is bringing what some would call his "jazz fusion" to the table (2:26-36 being one example); something he has developed all the years away from the Stones. It is an entirely new dimension for the band, and it's basically shoving a hot poker up all their respective @sses. I so hope this continues.

Oh my god...brothers in Stones...it happened!! I'm so high from watching this, it's like an angel landed. So many years we have been waiting for a glimmer of that magic from his fingers, the vibration felt throughout the entire band, yea, even the communal bond it inspired in Mick and Keith, who joked with each other unabashedly with expressions not seen in years. Wow, thank you all

QuoteCome On Guest stars is mostly very annoying to watch...guys like Clapton that's a cool artist for real is what I can stand... +1, the generation that came up in the late 90s-00s, I'd say from Dave Matthews through John Mayer (including Grohl but Cobain was unique), in my opinion has not been immersed in great rock music the way those who grew up in the 50s-80s (I'm ending arou

Quotestonehearted He has no understanding of musical dynamics, of blending in with the musicians around you-- +1, at least someone hears what I'm saying about dynamics. But music appreciation is subjective and people like different things. Grohl did show that sensitivity with Nirvana, whereas his guitar persona is just an all-out, monotonous power chord, which borders on torture to my ears a

I get the Nirvana legend, and the high energy he brings, but does anyone else find the Grohler's incessant leg stomping, head banging, interminable power chord noise too much?

Gee, there's an energy to this Anaheim show I haven't seen before. First, MJ is incredible as always with his fitness level, but Keith also is evolving into something different...he seems healthier, like he wants to meet MJ halfway, maybe be a little more like him. Whatever it is, these two are melding very nicely in these clips. Ron's plinky playing though, is....anemic. Would

They don't WANT MT's sound volume up, they don't want him playing too well, and he seems happy to acquiesce, fulfilling the role of a sentimental novelty while lurking around the stage. They wanted Wyman to do something similar, but he didn't buy in.

Quote71Tele My main thought during his HTW "piano" solo was "that doesn't sound anything like a piano, even a good digital one". When that is what you are thinking while a musician is doing his thing it's trouble...Uh oh, here come all the folks to remind me of what a nice guy Chuck is and how well he played on the Allman's "Jessica". We're not getting more MT, and through his stage loping act, he's not moving the argument forward. The only thing I'm curious about these shows is how vital MJ is...I mean wow! And seeing how Keith and Charlie are getting on. That is IT. The performances do nothing for me. This dog has had its day. I'd be more interested seeing a workout video by MJ, a gardening special by Kei

This thread is great for me in that so many of us feel/observe what is happening the same way: QuoteRokyfan Mick Taylor is sitting backstage smoking cigarettes while the Stones are playing brown Sugar and Sympathy, etc. There is no way anyone can explain this to me in a way that would make any sense. By his submissive hunching and loping around the stage, aping with everybody in the band, wh

MT, I love you man, but in the one d@mn song that these greedy bastards are giving you, please stop wasting precious time and energy aping and loping around the stage. Instead, focus on the d@mn guitar. Aping is not your talent; playing that fretboard is. Stand (straight--not hunched over) in yer spot, focus, and break it down for us. Show us once again who is the lyrical maestro. Please.

Digital computing defines our lives in great ways, but digital music sucks, and Keith is not the first to observe it. I can't listen to some distorted rock music, whose analog distortion on vinyl and cassette is pleasing to my ears, where the digital sound is harsh, shrill, and irritating. Apparently, most do not remember, or are not perceiving (consciously anyway) the problem of digital
