I guess some of you idolize Brian Jones and the "heartbreaking" photo. Perhaps if you had someone actually close to you die, or know of a child who has died of cancer, etc., you might call something "heartbreaking," rather than an abusive alcoholic/drug addict blond instrumentalist who essentially dug his own grave. Read Keith's book for accounts of BJ's sadistic,

@ sweetcharmed, gotta luv Ronnie and the Faces. Wish Rod would tour with them. Studiophiles will dig this epic vid with Sir G. Martin. Only 8 min. out of your life. Trust me!: And this vid is kinda surreal: Joe Perry of Aerosmith pimping his hot sauce on Rachel Ray, and feeding Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick off the end of his (Joe's) switchblade. Rachel calls Joe "baby" so

As a cynic/critic myself, I understand those jabs about this show, but I'm gonna side with Macca here, as his heart is with NYC in more ways than we know. He is the definition of a trooper, thumbs up and all. Dude is a f kng workhorse survivor.

It's a good thread to acknowledge and (some) accept that a great era in music is just about over. Hyde Park will go down, and MT will be there. That will be pretty cool. For me, the Stones haven't offered anything original in about 30 years, but I'm glad they kept touring cuz that meant I got to see them live. I was guilty of embellishing each new release in my own mind, try

RS interview, Jann Wenner, '95: WENNER: Why did Mick Taylor leave? JAGGER: I still don’t really know. WENNER: He never explained? JAGGER: Not really. He wanted to have a solo career. I think he found it difficult to get on with Keith. WENNER: On musical issues? JAGGER: Everything. I’m guessing.

Outside of a cameo at Hyde Park, orchestrated by facilitator RW, MT will not be joining or touring with the band. As Whiskey mentioned, 99% of punters (Brit slang for paying customers) don't know or give a rat's @ss who MT is. We here are an exclusive, minority fan base that has followed the band in a historical sense. But the machine comes down to dollars (or pounds) and cents. Lik

Agree on Clapton comments as well. Remember, he was already "God" in '68. Plus, Clapper does not have the whirling dervish thing that MT crafted around '73. No where close. I am not one to glamorize or go in for nostalgia for its own sake, but MT took the band to WAY new heights. Do yourself a favor, go listen/watch to Ladies and Gentlemen, Philly Special, Brussels Affair,

Ronnie's chick is pretty smokin'. Note the full lips, ample figure and Mayan skin. Aside from leaving that good woman Jo, he's one lucky b@stard. What a joke to "recreate" Hyde Park '69 without MT in the conversation. In my opinion, Hyde Park was 50% rolling out their new guitarist, blues prodigy MT, who went forth to inspire the band in their Golden Age for the

Agreed, Kriffhard. The aural frequency of MJ's 70 year-old subversive, nasal sneer is extremely grating on the ear drums. I just don't think he gets how his over the top affectations are long played out. And he's probably got so many "yes" men and women with their noses up his rear, he could whistle Dixie and they'd tell him it's the best thing since Exile. Time

QuoteMadMax she says a couple of nasty things to me and expect me not to care What the other posters are failing to mention is that you're being a pussy, and this woman does not respect you. Not that the Jack Nicholson scene is condoned, but you must lay down the law with this b, like all the men in her culture do. Only then will you have a remote possibility of winning her respect. She do

Well that's an interesting take, but I think KR's words affect MJ more than the spitball metaphor. It has crossed my mind that MJ's lifestyle has kept him more vital, whereas KR is aging quicker, and maybe feels he's falling behind, and MJ doesn't want to get dragged down. Who knows? Life is ephemeral. One thing's for sure; they're all enjoying life big time: wi

24FPS and Loudei nailed it above. As much as we romanticize the Stones, and I used to be guilty of that, having seen them 5th row in '89, looking back, the music really hasn't stood up after Start Me Up. I was wondering why MJ's contemporary voice really wears on me, like on this recent recording, then I heard JJF and Sympathy on the radio yesterday. I did a close listen and I

I second MJ's harsh vocal tone...that and his ever-increasing affectations are irritating on my ears. Marley and Joss' banter is amusing and the groove is good! That's the most natural part of the thing.

I just said swan song in context of MT leaving...it's a pretty song but has a bittersweet, saying goodbye quality to it. I find it interesting that it's his last song with the band and gives him the most freedom in the solo. Hey I dig post '74 and the Stones in general! MT was just something special, one of those things in time where everything comes together, like the Beatles or D

I agree, MJ still wrote some great post-MT lyrics. Miss You and Start Me Up come to mind. If Ronnie weren't around, maybe the glimmer twins couldn't have buried the hatchet. I'm sure MT could not provide the comic relief that RW does. But musically? Ronnie's work on Miss You is good, and I like the way he and Keith trade country bends, but really, that's about it. Really shows a new direction, that ends as quickly as it begins. I like the lyrical direction MJ was going in this song. I wish there were more literary, poetic songs like that, "gather your corn" etc. Never Make a Saint of Me comes close, but it ain't this musicality that MT brought to the table. That train left the station when MT left. I think MT's playing inspired MJ. List

JF is funny, kinda quirky, a musician to boot. Did you see him scratch a personal check to John Rich's fundraiser for the children's hospital on Celebrity Apprentice? Now there is a class act. Great song he wrote too:

Quotestonescrow Absolutely agree with you on all points. Props given. And Charlie walking off that tool's set is both hysterical and sad. Wonder what that hump said or did to put the classy C. Watts off? Probably something not real classy, like screwing your intern when you're married with a new baby. Oh wait, DL did that too. What a hump.

Quotenonfilter Quote71Tele Letterman is at least smart and edgy, and has a degree of integrity. Leno is an ass-licker who would do anything to be popular. A middling talent for middle-of-the-roaders whose career would be nowhere if it weren't for Letterman. Couldn't aggree more!! Integrity? Uh, right. If that works for you two, but it ain't integrity. And Leno owed noth

Quotelettingitbleed Well if long time fans are resorting to the likes of Toby Keith to get their rocks off, the Stones must surely be done! This made me laugh out loud! I knew that would get some reaction. As Good As I Once Was is a good example. (grooveshark link) Others: A Little Too Late, Who's Your Daddy?, How Do You Like Me Now? All good stuff. Patty Loveless had a few years back

Some of you are missing the point that Keith not appearing on Letterman shows Keith's class. Letterman is a self-aggrandizing, self-absorbed, perverted shtunk. Look it up in a Yiddish dictionary. I think some people mistake smugness for humor, because they think, "Oh, he must really be in the know, and more clever than I am." I identify smugness with smugness. Leno, while n

When I was in grad school in '94-'95, some very nice member here, I think he lived in Boston, sent me cassettes (remember them?) of Sydney and Brussels '73. My life was changed after that, notwithstanding already having been affected by Ya-Yas years before. (Later I found Philly Special '72, and Earl's Court '71 in record shops.) IORR message board was the first foru
