Quotetatters QuoteHairball It's known that Roger presented both the initial concepts that he wrote for both The Wall and the Final Cut to the band, and they voted unanimously for The Wall. The story I'm familiar with is that he presented the band with The Wall and The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking. Not a particularly difficult choice for the band to make. Pros and Cons is arg

I wouldn't mind listening GYYYO from old mono record player because it still sounds great through an old speaker compared to clean crap like Flashpoint. To me, it's the music, not the sound quality.

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotewindmelody QuoteStoneage No one here to defend Dirty Work now... Dirty Work has some moments, like One Hit to the Body, the guitars in Fight and some grooves. Yet, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman are missing on several songs. The listener recognizes, that the relationship between the men in the band was on a low point while they were in the studio. Huge parts of the albu

I've always considered Undercover to be the last good Stones album from start to finish. Dirty Work was a huge disappointment after waiting for long three years for a new album. Three years. Long, haha! Dirty Work's eighties mixing was horrible and Back to Zero? Perhaps I say nothing about that... Albums after Undercover do have some great songs but they also include too many fillers.

Roger any day over U2. Without Roger Pink Floyd would have been a lame act. When you listen to post-Roger Floyd albums or David's solo albums you can hear why. David just can't get to that level without Roger. Only few songs I consider as a classic (e.g. High Hopes) but most of the songs are poor quality.

Quote35love Seriously, no offense, but who the &$@! needs a bathroom break for a 2 hour concert of the Rolling Stones ????? I have wanted to say that for a long time! Well, when you gotta go, you gotta go. It's simple as that. If there's an urgent need to go, I'd rather go and miss couple of songs rather than having wet or soiled trousers for the rest of the gig Bu

Fantastic album with great songs. Also sound is marvelous on that LP. Still, double album would have been perhaps too long.

Just great band and I've been a fan for 31 years now. Lots of great live bootlegs and official albums. Even the post GD era bands are pretty good. Of course you can't replace Jerry or PigPen but that's not obviously the rest of the band's fault. Unfortunately I never saw them live with Jerry because they very seldom visited Europe but a big thank to the band for letting people

Here are my thoughts about the album. There are some really great moments and then some really low moments. Should've been compiled better. Marvelous song and marvelous LP. I remember when first hearing this and I loved it from the first note. The whole LP is the last really good Stones LP. Dirty Work was a huge disappointment. Back then three years was a very long waiting period so when DW finally got out I just couldn't understand why they released so crappy album.

QuoteTurner68 QuoteSingle Malt Keith is just promoting his new album. "Any publicity is good publicity". best case for him is one of these bands responds by saying they don't like him either, it gets an entire generation of stones fans rallied in support of keith. Nah, I wouldn't be bothered. If Keith thinks that way, that is entirely his opinion. If Metallica or Black Sab

Great album with great tunes. One of my favourite Stones albums. It would be great to hear a clean 11 minute version of Hey Negrita.

Gotta say that it's fantastic book with lots of inside information and funny anecdotes. One of the best written books about The Stones that I've read. I purchased mine approx. 13 years ago (with an autograph of course) and I definitely don't have a need to sell it Thanks, James, for the book!

Quotestonehearted As Phelge goes on to note: "...the balance of power within the band changed forever that night. Brian had opted out of any leadership role in dealing with Mickey Waller." --Phelge's Stones, p. 209 I see it that way too. Phelge's book is marvelous. One of the best Stones books there is available. It is either Brian let Mick took the charge or Mick just gr

My view is that Mick and Keith should've put Bill into the credits because without Bill there possibly wouldn't be JJF (or it would exist in different form). People say that Bill's not a good song writer and I agree. His solo songs are quite mediocre but I believe every cloud has a silver lining. Mick and Keith must have realised then that they have a great back-to-the-roots song i

Quotefrankotero I can understand this being a little confusing. In my early days of being a fan I thought the same thing. Really too bad there hasn't been a clean live version of the song Gimme Shelter from 1969. The Altamont version on the bootleg "No Angel Born In Hell" is smoking hot, serious raw power. Wish Bob Clearmountain would do his magic on that. There is one bootleg wh

I'm 45 and my brother say that I got into the Stones in 1974 when I saw It's Only Rock'n'Roll on TV. I was a wee bairn then so I can't really remember that, haha. First show was in 1995 because they didn't tour in Finland between 1970-1995. When I invent the time machine I will go to see the band at my home town Pori in 1965 (Yyteri Beach concert)

I'd rather compare albums by giving individual points to songs (0-3 points) 1. Gimme Shelter = 3 2. Love In Vain = 1 3. Country Honk = 0 4. Live With Me = 3 5. Let It Bleed = 1 6. Midnight Rambler = 2 7. You Got The Silver = 1 8. Monkey Man = 3 9. YCAGWYW = 1 15 points = 1.67 points per song 1. Brown Sugar = 3 2. Sway = 3 3. Wild Horses = 2 4. Can't You Hear Me Knock

QuoteReagan Got to hear a audience bootleg of the Baltimore show. Love In Vain was not overdubbed in any way. I even synced the audience bootleg recording with the Ya Yas version, and it's a perfect match. Makes it all the more amazing. So that's cool. A Guideline on Ya Yas vocal overdubs: if you hear Keith singing backup, it's an overdub as he mostly didn't do that on
