And that guitar solo keeps just going on and on. Almost two minutes. Great version.

Great song. I've loved it since I first heard it in 1978. And the live versions are great too (esp. 1978, 1981 and 1982 versions).

Nice tune. Always liked it since the first time I heard it in summer 1980.

Keith's story about his gardener is about the lyrics, not the riff. two different things. Could be but I just don't believe what Keith says. Keith is making up the history of the Stones while he's talking. It doesn't matter to him if it's true or not. It's sad that he's messed it so much that you can't really be sure what's true of what he spea

QuoteRollingFreak They are from a decade older generation where you just kind of didn't do that. They are also older than Bruce Bruce is only six years younger than Mick and Keith so to me they're the same generation. Twenty years younger and that would've been a different story. But to the other point: sadly, average concert goer is not a hardcore fan anymore. They are ther

There are different mixes of songs in the UK edition when compared to US and Australia versions and the first edition doesn't have Rock'n'Roll Damnation (it was added later on the LP). It kicks off with Gimme A Bullet. Riffs are just magnificent. Side A: 1. Gimme A Bullet 2. Down Payment Blues 3. Gone Shootin' 4. Riff Raff Side B: 1. Sin City 2. Up To My Neck In

Nevertheless AC/DC makes the same LP again and again I think they're great rock'n'roll group. My favourite LP is definitely UK version of Powerage and I respect Malcolm more because of his fantastic rhythm guitar playing. Hope the new LP will be something like the seventies blues based rock.

Well, somehow I'm not believing what Keith says. That's why I haven't read his autobiography because I don't know what's true and what's not. And probably I never will read his book.

Fantastic album. Those 70's instrumental records of his are brilliant. Last good album was Songs of distant earth (1994) and after that I haven't been that keen on his newer stuff. But TB is magic. Never get tired of it.

Great song and riff. I know a lot worse album openers than that.

I've always loved the long version with that unique cold ending. Fade-out is just not right in that song.

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteSingle Malt Great footage from Yyteri Beach, Pori. Sadly I'm too young because as a Porian guy it would've been smashing to see this live. Well, it's good that some footage has survived. Audio would be great too but I assume nobody at the time recorded it. What can a Porian guy do 'cept to sing for a rock'n'roll band? ><

Great band. And still is. Their latest LP's aren't that bad at all. Of course, I miss Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore but replacements fill their boots very well. Perfect Strangers was a marvelous come back LP and I've always liked the title song: very heavy tempo with awesome organs. But if I had to pick my favourite Deep Purple LP then Fireball perhaps would be my choice.

QuoteStoneage Looks like Undercover and Dirty Work are the most talked about albums here on IORR at least. True. Looks like UnderCover is perhaps the only Stones album that you either love or hate. No compromises

The last album by The Stones that was good from start to finish and it doesn't have any poor fillers (okay, perhaps couple of less than great fillers but still not poor).

QuoteElmo Lewis Quoteandrewt QuoteSingle Malt I love Pink Floyd as well as Rolling Stones but I've never heard of their collaboration. I don't think they ever did either, but certainly Mick and Stash were in the same Swinging London scene as Floyd in the late sixties, so no doubt they probably ended up running into each other at nightclubs etc. Yeah, that's what I meant, not mu

The Wall is one of the best albums ever made but I can say the same thing about Beggars Banquet. Those two bands are quite different so I'm not comparing them. Both have made good albums and songs and I like 'em both.

QuoteDoxa In Yyteri Beach Midsummer Festival (Finland) 1965, there was said to be 11 000 people (though I have heard different numbers as well). But some people have claimed that most of them were actually watching a local tango orchestra in a different stage... - Doxa Yep, I've seen estimations that 10 to 15 000 attended the show at Pori. No-one knows the real amount...

Quotestonehearted QuoteCanYouHearTheMusic In 1989-90 as well as classic tours like 72 and 81-82 they played pretty much the same set every night. No one seemed to complain then! No one complained then because they had whole new albums for each of those tours where several new songs would be played and would be welcomed by fans because they were good, many of them future classics. Now they hav

Hope Bob's all right. I always enjoy Grateful Dead bootlegs. Fantastic band. Fantastic live performances. Always rated them better than e.g. Zeppelin who I've always thought were overrated and boring.

I have their latest album Rapture of the Deep on vinyl and it sounds good. Don Airey has filled Lord's boots well. Steve Morse is technically better guitarist but Blackmore has that Purple feeling on his fingertips. But all in all, Morse is fine replacement.
