Like for many bands and artists I see that The Stones were in right place at the right time. I think it was Brian who was concerned that they must be the first R&B band in Britain because otherwise they would be just a band copying others. And they also had luck because Decca had rejected The Beatles so they couldn't afford to say no to another band that might become huge. And Andrew

QuoteDoxa QuoteStonesCat QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteStonesCat QuoteTate My 'Best Of '83 - present' would be the entire track list of Undercover. I love that album and do not put it at all in the category of the 5 LPs released in the 32 years that followed. This. I see that album as kind of the last gasp from the creative early Wood years. I think that's a bit o

Very hard to compile this because the first 10 songs would be taken straight from Under Cover and that would leave only 5 empty spaces for the rest of the five albums Best of 1986-2015 would be totally different situation...

There should be someone who would lock Mick and Keith into kitchen and only lets them out when 12 new songs are ready to be recorded

Perhaps not a double album but I would've swapped few songs. I definitely would have included I'm Going Down and I Don't Know Why. And Midnight Rambler should've been a faster song. Now it's like dragging tons of steel without wheels. Brilliant song but only when played live. Side 1: 1. Gimme Shelter 2. Love In Vain 3. Downtown Suzie 4. Live With Me 5. Let It Bl

Great groovy tune. Hopefully they release that 11 minute outtake version some day because that's marvellous.

FYI, that I've got a Finnish version of SFM 7" single. F22825 (XDR 43220 & XDR 43221) A-side: SREET FIGHTING MAN (yes, T is missing) B-side: NO EXPECTATIONS Made in Finland, Oy Finnlevy Ab, 1968. And this one's got different vocals. Sounds like double vocals. Sadly the sleeves are missing

I've always liked this tune which is not a typical Stones track. Quite a feeling when listening to it and 2000 Light Years is a perfect song following it.

Quotewatts fan QuoteJesse1960 As an aside, the lack of a bass caused them to sound a bit thin live. I know Manzarek played the foot pedal bass. Not the same effect. Actually, Ray played the bass parts with his left hand, on a Fender Rhodes piano bass. He was a pretty amazing musician! Fantastic group and Ray's talent of playing bass with his left hand and other organ parts with his righ

QuoteRaymond82 It hurts. 100%. It depends where you take it and what is your tolerance of pain. I have a tattoo on my left shoulder and it didn't hurt at all. Infact, I fell asleep while the artist was doing it

I remember Keith saying in some interview that he wasn't happy that MD was included on CD. He preferred LP version and Thru & Thru being the last song. And I agree. MD is just a filler and T&T suits perfectly at the end.

Tough call. My picks NOW are: Beggars Banquet Sticky Fingers Black And Blue Emotional Rescue Tomorrow the list would possibly be quite different. Also Get Yer Deluxe is always near top of the list.

I like this album but I agree that it's perhaps too long. Take few songs off and it would be much better. I have the LP version so to me Thru & Thru is the only song to end it. Infact, I think I've never even heard of Mean Disposition. If it's not on the LP, it doesn't exist Okay, it was eventually released in 2010 LP version. My 1 LP version: 1. Love Is Strong 2.

Mick T should be the third guitarist and that would let Keith to have more freedom in his playing. I don't care he chose to quit 40 years ago so I'd let him back as a full member (but I'm not Mick J). It's funny how some people here are so adamant about his departure: he left so no full-time membership for him. I think life's too short for that. And of course Keith is

Quotestanlove QuotePoetry Of course, the lead on the studio take was Keith, but did Keith ever play the solo live in the Taylor years? I think the studio version has to be one of his best solos. Love the atmosphere of it. I don't think they ever did a decent live version until 1989..I can't believe anyone can listen to earlier ones and think it actually sounds good. Its awful Well

How about Got LIVE the EP version? What I've heard through the years that it's 100% live but how about you guys and gals? Do you know better? And I think it's amazing EP and it's great there's also that other version of it released few years ago that has the whole show in it (was it named Live in England?)

Well, I had to do my own reimagined album. I also stepped out of the comfort zone and ripped "Sing this all together" and "Citadel" apart. My version (so far until I change the running order - again): Side 1: 1) intro (the beginning of Sing this all together - See what happens) 2) Sing This All Together 3) Dandelion 4) Gold Painted Nails (edit) 5) She's A Rain

About jokes: this footy anecdote was performed at Million Pound Radio Show by Andy Hamilton and Nick Revell in 1990 (World Cup Special). Andy Hamilton interviewing Geoff Hurst and Emlyn Hughes (can't remember the actors who played those parts) and about the fact that England really didn't win the cup. MPRS also mocked Emlyn Hughes's way of talking. It went something like t

Very sad news indeed. Hope Malcolm gets well. I've always thought of him being the more interesting guitar player compared to Angus. His rhythm guitar is just marvelous. I thought I saw him walking past me at Heathrow in July 1989 but I was too shy to ask his autograph. On the other hand that could've easily been somebody else And when talking about my favourite AC/DC LP that is the U

To me Under Cover was the last good album. After that only handful per album I consider good songs (lots of fillers). But in UC almost every song is a nice one, especially UCOTN, TYU, PBU, TT and IMBH. But still others aren't fillers. I even like FOB nowadays although I disliked it back then The last album that I usually listen from start to the end without skipping songs.
