Quotenightskyman I read a book by him on the Stones many years ago. He seemed to have a chip on his shoulder, I remember part of the book to be a rant of some sort vs. other rock journalists which I did not care about. Anyway, RIP Chet Flippo. Not true. He just exposed some of the phony-baloney journalists who were covering the Stones and writing BS. I specifically recall esteemed newsm

+1 (on original post) - belatedly stumbled upon him last year, when he did a gig in Pioneertown, near Joshua Tree. One of the best shows ever.

He has a lot of respect among guitar afficionados in the rock world. At least it's not Kenny Chesney.

The first NYT story from a week or two back was a puff piece for Ticketmaster, terrible. Your point is valid, and I also agree with a commenter on the NYT site who noted that the guy selling tickets on the street is negatively referred to as a "scalper," while online vendor Stubhub is considered in more legitimate terms as a "reseller." What's the difference? Still, this

The Stones aren't mentioned, but plenty of relevance to us, and the article makes some interesting points. Among them: 1. Springsteen’s (low-cost ticket) style might seem more altruistic, but performers who undercharge their fans can paradoxically reap higher profits than those who maximize each ticket price. 2. Springsteen and others have angrily denounced scalping at their shows, bu

Never thought Some Girls was that great ... from the terrible cover to the awful opening track to lyrics that strained too hard to be contemporary. I've probably given Emotional Rescue more spins than Some Girls. As a matter of interest, these albums were nominated for the album of the year Grammy that year: Saturday Night Fever - soundtrack Even Now - Barry Manilow Grease - soundtrack

+1. Great record, despite drummer drama. I discussed it with Ozzy and Geezer yesterday.

Quotepalerider22 Quotetreaclefingers Damn...312s Self upgrade is in order What was that section someone posted back a while.. Try 109? That's the equivalent of what I did in L.A., super close to the side of the stage, but it's all personal preference.

QuoteRKH1981 just got back. The Stones still rule!!! It was a good night 1 of 3. Setlist was a little blah, but got to hear a great version of Rocks Off so I can't complain at all!!! Thought Taj was cool too! Here's a pic I took. Sorry about the bad quality, just used my phone... Thought it was pretty cool to see Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie all huddle up before the YCAGWYW

QuoteMax'sKansasCity It sure was nice of you to pass along that information about how you self upgraded in LA and what sections work for future shows, I quoted it. I probably wont be able to use the info, but for people who do use it, and don't say it... Thanks... And very cool story about Perla Hudson. Thanks! My annoying control-freak element exposed there. QuotePowerage5 Last night was AMAZING! I ended up getting a pair of $85's on eBay yesterday at 1 AM for $300 from a guy who had $85's for himself and another group of friends. His friends were taking forever to get to the venue, so he convinced the people working the $85 table to let us in while he waited for his other couple. He also gave us our pick of which pair of tickets we wanted

Sad. I was thinking about him 2 hours ago as I walked past the Doors mural outside Trader Joe's in West Hollywood. Real nice guy, if a tad verbose. We talked on the phone a few times, at length. And in person once at the VH1 Storytellers rehearsal. He never forgave Oliver Stone. And he loved the weed and his wife - not necessarily in that order. He was very cosmic, and I doubt he was afra

A nice visual experience for the romantics, who are also 100% assured of major disappointment. I prefer a classic rocker who can add value - like Tom Petty or John Mellencamp or frequent Stones coverer Lindsey Buckingham. Actually: JANELLE MONAE over all of the above.

Not me. Such major public discounting seems to have ended. Best to hope for is price drops to $250 from $450. As the band came on last night, 100 people were lined up at the box office waiting in vain for cheap seats to come on sale. Instead, the $250 tickets disappeared, and only options were in the $400 and $600 range. Also, seems no one was selling any extras last night. Supply very tight.

I understand the criticism of the article, but I don't think that publishing personal inside info about the LAT writer is very helpful. If he had picked on the folks at a rap concert or Justin Bieber concert we'd be rolling in the aisles. He also could have replaced "Rolling Stones" with "Eagles" or "Fleetwood Mac" or "Jimmy Buffett." But he he
