For those who haven't read his book on the Stones, I highly recommend it!

I read a book by him on the Stones many years ago.

He seemed to have a chip on his shoulder, I remember part of the book to be a rant of some sort vs. other rock journalists which I did not care about.

Anyway, RIP Chet Flippo.

They all knocked the others so CF was not unique. The best rock journalists had lots of attitude which made you want to read their articles

Well he had the balls to stand for the band against the RS mag and its ed in chief (Jann Wenner) while working for RS mag.
That takes some integrity and balls! thumbs up

Plus he attended TWO legendary Stones gigs : the 2nd Mocambo and the Passaic'78 gig.

How many of us at IORR have such an impressive record? >grinning smiley<

His book -though not great - was one of the more interesting ones. And he drummed for the Stones lol . .

I must have read parts of "On the Road With the Rolling Stones" 200 times, imagining what it would have been like to really have been where he was.

Not true. He just exposed some of the phony-baloney journalists who were covering the Stones and writing BS. I specifically recall esteemed newsman Geraldo Rivera was among his targets. Chet was a great guy, and his book ranks among the must-reads of the Stones bibliography, alongside Stanley Booth and Bill German.

I stand corrected. It has been a long time since I read the book (That "On the road with Rolling Stones" book). I realize now it was probably only a couple pages, but the rest of the book was good.

If he did he had good reason to. It was a very good book and he was an excellent writer.

I have to go back and read the infamous SHATTERED article he did on the Stones for the '78 tour. It truly pissed Jagger off.
